BBC Breakfast star Carol Kirkwood has spoken out on her outfits on the show, admitting that she has no team to help her with what she wears on screen

BBC Breakfast’s beloved weather presenter Carol Kirkwood has clarified misconceptions about her on-screen wardrobe choices. Contrary to what viewers might assume, the 63-year-old has revealed she doesn’t have a styling team for her appearances.
Carol humorously admitted that the outfits she wears are all her “own mistakes.”
During an appearance on BBC Radio 2’s Tracks Of My Years, host Gary Davies complimented her: “You just look like summer has arrived every single morning, you do, and that’s why I think we all love you.”
He then inquired: “How do you decide what to wear every day? Is this all yours, or do you have a team?”
Carol responded with a laugh: “You’re having a laugh — a team to sort out my outfits?”
She explained her pragmatic approach to dressing: “No, it’s all me and often it’s what’s ironed, what’s washed and what’s clean — ‘Lovely, that’ll do,’ because it’s not a fashion show for me.”

Emphasising her professional focus, she added: “I don’t want to be what you talk about rather than the weather, because my job is the weather and it’s an important message. So, nobody helps me — they’re all my own mistakes.”
Carol also expressed her affection for her role and colleagues, saying: “We’ve known each other for donkeys’ years, so it’s real friendship that you’re witnessing.”
Since joining the BBC Breakfast team in 1997, Carol has become its longest-standing presenter.
Her expertise in weather reporting has been recognised with multiple TRIC Awards for Best TV Weather Presenter, which she won in 2003, 2008, 2009, and consecutively from 2012 to 2017.
The meteorologist has received royal recognition from Princess Anne herself.

In November 2015, she was honoured with an Honorary Fellowship by the Princess Royal at Inverness College for her “contributions to broadcasting.”
That same year saw her take to the dance floor on Strictly Come Dancing, partnered with the show’s former professional dancer Pasha Kovalev. Despite receiving commendations for her performances, she was eliminated from the competition early, finishing in 10th place.
Carol has recently made it clear that she has no intention of hanging up her weather charts any time soon.
When asked about the possibility of retirement, she emphatically told Radio Times Magazine: “Don’t say that; you’ll get me sacked! And I love my job — I can’t imagine not doing it.”
She added, with enthusiasm for her profession: “There will be a day, obviously, when that happens, but for now I still love the weather. Each day is different, you know?”
Carol also remarked on the ever-changing nature of her work: “We’re an island, and the weather changes all the time, so it’s always interesting.”
