THERE’S a mystery over why police have the cellphone of a missing Spring Breaker who disappeared outside a nightclub in Spain.
The worried mother of University of Alabama student James Paul Gracey, 20, has pleaded for help to find him.

James, known to friends and family as “Jimmy,” had allegedly been visiting friends who were studying in Barcelona, said his mom, Therese Gracey.
5The student is from Elmhurst in Illinois.
He had gone out with friends on Monday night, she added in an urgent Facebook post.
But, James failed to turn up at the AirBnb he had booked for March 16.
The student was last seen by a friend at Shoko nightclub in the the vibrant Ciutat Vella district at about 3am on Tuesday, Therese said.
He has since been reported missing to police in Barcelona.
The U.S. Sun spoke to a direct family member on Wednesday morning who confirmed James’s father, Taras, has now arrived in Barcelona to meet with police and help with the search.
They said his mom is set to fly out Wednesday to join him as they frantically look for their son.
“[Therese] has contacted the Embassy but I’m not sure if they got back to her,” they added.
AI results shared on social media claimed James had been located, but The U.S. Sun can confirm he is still missing.
James is believed to have been wearing a white T-shirt and dark pants — likely joggers — at the time of his disappearance, according to his mother.
“He wears a gold chain with a rhinestone cross,” she added, while urging people to get in touch with her if they knew his location.
James was reported missing while traveling to Spain during Spring break.
Therese also revealed that cops “have his phone.”
However, it’s unclear why they have his cellphone or what it means for the investigation.
“He didn’t make it back to the air bnb. Has anyone see him?” she asked on social media.

One man replied that his son is currently studying in Barcelona, and was at the nightclub last night “with a bunch of fraternity brothers.”
5“Your son’s photo is being shared with all the American students studying there. Praying for his safe return,” he added.
James is a member of the Alpha Phi Chapter of Theta Chi and his fraternity brothers back in the US have been sharing information about his disappearance.
The University of Alabama released a statement saying it is doing all it can to help the family.
“James Paul Gracey is a UA student on a personal trip,” a media rep told The U.S. Sun.
“UA staff are in touch with the family and those associated with them to offer support and assistance in any way possible.”
