Amanda Owen struggled to hold back tears upon learning that their cherished family dog, Chalky, had died in the most recent instalment of Our Farm Next Door.

Prior to the Owen clan coming together to lay Chalky to rest, Amanda confessed, “It was really clear and obvious that Chalky was fading away.”

Recalling the devastating moment, the mother of nine continued, “When the children came running out of the house door saying that Chalky had passed away, they were absolutely bereft, and they knew it was coming, and I knew it was coming.

“But still, just to see her laid there, as peaceful as anything and still warm, it pulled at your heartstrings.”

She remarked, “No, she’s had a good life,” reports the Express.

Whilst Amanda and one of her daughters reminisced about their treasured companion, they remembered that Chalky didn’t “like normal dog food” but adored cheese.

Following Amanda and Clive’s daughters’ crafting a coffin for Chalky’s burial, the entire family assembled to honour her memory.

The daughters even composed and delivered a touching poem dedicated to Chalky.

Whilst Amanda battled tears, Clive mused, “Oh, it’s good old Chalkie. She’s gone, but not forgotten. She’s lived a great life, and she’s been a great friend to us all. There she’ll be, and we’ll remember her there, won’t we?”

Last year, Amanda posted on Instagram to announce the heartbreaking news of Chalky’s death, receiving an outpouring of sympathy from followers. The caption poignantly stated: “Mourning #Chalky. “One supporter wrote: “So sad when you lose a dog.

Sending you love. “Another well-wisher offered their condolences: “Sorry for your loss, Amanda, Clive, and family.”
