THE parents of murdered toddler James Bulger have applied to attend killer Jon Venables’ parole hearing.

Ralph Bulger, 59, and Denise Fergus, 57, want to be there to read their victim impact statements to the fiend.

The couple are separated and have independently requested places for the hearing, set to take place in October or November.

If they attend, it could be the first time they have come face-to-face with Venables since he and his accomplice Robert Thompson’s trial in 1993.

The killers, then both ten, kidnapped two-year-old James from a shopping centre in Liverpool before torturing and murdering him.

They served eight years and were released in 2001, though Venables, 43, has been recalled to jail twice over child abuse images.

He was refused parole in 2023.

A source said: “Both of James’s parents want to be there at Venables’ parole hearing.

“But the indications are that they will again be blocked from doing so.

“That would mean an official reading out their statements.

“And they would not have nearly as much impact as if it came from them.”
