Netflix has put out a lot of popular shows over the years, and some of them quickly became favourites with viewers. But every now and then, a series comes along that people can’t stop talking about.

We’re talking about the kind of show that pulls you in straight away and keeps you watching. You start one episode, and suddenly you’re a few hours in without realising. And one series in particular has had that kind of reaction.

That show is Ozark, a four-season drama produced by Netflix.

It was created by Bill Dubuque and Mark Williams and stars Jason Bateman and Laura Linney as Marty and Wendy Byrde.

The story follows a couple who move their family to the Lake of the Ozarks after a money laundering scheme goes wrong.

They end up working for a Mexican drug cartel and quickly get pulled deeper into dangerous situations.

Along the way, they become involved with local criminals and face growing pressure to keep everything under control.

The first season was released in July 2017, followed by two more in 2018 and 2020.

It also picked up 45 Primetime Emmy Award nominations, with Jason Bateman winning for directing and Julia Garner winning three times for supporting actress.

Viewers have also not held back in their praise. One person wrote on IMDb: “This series is a home run for Netflix. Its a gripping series with superb casting for every character.

“It is an edge-of-your-seat thriller that grips the audience from the very start. From the first episode to the last, it is a brilliant masterpiece.”
