Actor admits on podcast how he sent fake letters using presidential stationery to numerous A-list actors, with some likely still framed in their homes

It’s fair to say George Clooney has enjoyed his time in Hollywood, both on and off the screen.

On Wednesday, December 3, the Batman & Robin actor, 64, joined Jason and Travis Kelce on their New Heights podcast. During his chat with the two NFL brothers, he covered topics ranging from fatherhood to his upcoming movie with Adam Sandler.

However, the most interesting disclosure had nothing to do with either subject. Instead, it centered on a scheme he had been running with a certain late-night host.

The star has revealed exactly why he’s considered one of Hollywood’s most notorious pranksters. He shared details of his most memorable joke, one that has duped countless celebrities.

George finally verified a longstanding rumor that he once penned bogus letters to A-list performers, making them appear as though they came from former President Bill Clinton, reports the Express US.

“Jimmy Kimmel gave me a stack of stationery with a presidential seal and Bill Clinton’s name on it,” he explained. “And I would send notes to all these actors from Bill Clinton, I’d sign it – and I’d find a movie that wasn’t a great film and ‘I’d write, ‘I loved you in this film.’”.

“I’d write these notes, and I’d send them. I sent [them] to, like, 30 different actors. I guarantee you some of them are framed in some of their homes. Guaranteed,” he continued.

After Jason and Travis burst out laughing, George confessed this wasn’t the only stunt he has pulled like this. Kimmel had previously supplied him with another piece of counterfeit letterhead, this time made to look as though it came from his Ocean’s Eleven co-star, Brad Pitt.

For this particular joke, he selected Meryl Streep as his target.

He had mailed The Devil Wears Prada star a substantial book of accents on CDs and written, “Dear Meryl, from Brad – this guy helped me in my accent in the movie Troy, and I thought maybe you could use it.”

Luckily for Meryl, this joke didn’t persist as long as the initial one. Four years later, he encountered her and shared this tale.

She replied, “Oh my God, I was wondering why the f— he’s sending me [this book].”

Brad and George are notorious for their ongoing prank rivalry.

“It’s so awful. We’ve done a lot of terrible things to each other,” he admitted. “He’s done terrible things to me, man, so it all comes out.”

During George’s time filming a project in Italy, Brad had persuaded production staff and local media outlets that the director preferred to be addressed as Danny Ocean, his character’s name from Ocean’s Eleven, and disliked being looked at directly in the eyes.
