Meghan Markle surprised fans on Thursday as she made a surprise appearance at an event near her Montecito home without her husband Prince Harry. The Duchess of Sussex, 44, attended the event at Godmothers bookstore in Summerland which was live-streamed.

At the event, which Meghan attended in support of her friend Courtney Adamo’s new book, the Duchess revealed some details about her life with Harry, 41, and their children Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four. This included intimate details that Meghan has not previously shared.

Speaking to the audience, Meghan was open about family rituals and the daily routine at their Montecito mansion, which includes having music on and lighting candles.

She said: “First thing I do when I wake up in the morning is turn the music on in the house. I always travel with a candle. I am so conscious and sensitive to fragrance and I associate that with home.”

Prince Harry’s wife also gave an insight into Princess Lilibet’s personality, calling her daughter “incredible”.

She said: “Our daughter she’s four and she’s a very strong personality and she’s incredible. And now she’s in this moment where I say, ‘What’s your rose and your thorn?’ And she goes, ‘My day was just a blast’.”

Meghan and Harry also reportedly use the concept of a healing blanket at home with their children when they aren’t feeling well, with the blanket in question being a gift from the co-founder of Godmother’s bookstore Victoria Jackson, who is also a close friend.

Prince Harry did not accompany his wife to the event on Thursday and is instead believed to have stayed at home with the couple’s two children.
