Netflix is bringing Mickey Haller back, and he’ll need all the tricks in his playbook to get out of his newest mess
Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, The Lincoln Lawyer
Netflix
The Lincoln Lawyer, which is based on a series of novels by Michael Connelly about the high-rolling attorney Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), has been a massive hit since the moment Season 1 dropped on Netflix, and now we’re barreling toward Season 4. But it certainly looks like the upcoming season will throw a big ol’ wrench into the formula for this hugely popular show — so if you were worried about The Lincoln Lawyer getting stale, you can relax.
Given that Season 3 ended on a pretty intense cliffhanger, in which Mickey was framed for murder, it’s understandable if fans of The Lincoln Lawyer are getting antsy as they wait to see what happens to Mickey next, especially since it’s been more than a year since Season 3 dropped. Unfortunately, you’ve got a bit longer until Season 4 arrives, but at least now we know how much longer the wait will be. Let’s dive into everything we know so far about what to expect from the upcoming season of The Lincoln Lawyer.
The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4 latest news
In early December 2025, Netflix finally announced a premiere date for Season 4 and released first-look photos. More on both of those below.
The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4 release date
Season 4 of The Lincoln Lawyer will land on Netflix on Feb. 5, about 16 months after Season 3 premiered in Oct. 2024.
What will The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4 be about?
Warning: Spoilers for the Season 3 finale of The Lincoln Lawyer follow.
If you’re up to date on The Lincoln Lawyer series — meaning you’ve watched through the end of Season 3 — then you should already have a pretty solid idea of what the focus will be in Season 4. The last time we saw hotshot attorney Mickey Haller, he was pulled over by police for a missing license plate while driving one of his titular Lincolns. The cop sees something dripping form the back of the car, opens the trunk, and finds the corpse of a con man named Sam Scales that Mickey had worked with several times in the past. Somebody is framing Mickey for murder.
Fortunately, Mickey’s ex-wife/associate Lorna Crane (Becki Newton) just passed the bar, but don’t think Mickey’s going to take a step back even while he’s being framed for murder. Season 4 will be based on the novel The Law of Innocence, and in the book, Mickey defends himself.
“Well, the biggest cliffhanger of all is: ‘What is going to happen to Mickey?’ And that one certainly plays out across the whole season in the form of his trial,” co-showrunner Ted Humphrey told Tudum. “But in the first episode you’ll understand at least the broad strokes of what specifically has happened and what charges — and adversaries — Mickey is facing. This is going to be the biggest and most personal challenge Mickey has ever faced, and also the biggest roller coaster we’ve yet taken our audience on.”
So this case won’t be a quick one — it’ll take all of Season 4 for Mickey to get himself out of this one.
Oddly enough, the COVID-19 pandemic plays a role in the book, which takes place in early 2020 right as that whole thing was getting started. Whether that aspect of the story will be kept is unknown.
The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4 cast

The core cast of Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (Mickey), Becki Newton (Lorna), Jazz Raycole (Izzy), and Angus Sampson (Cisco) will all be returning, naturally, and Neve Campbell, as Mickey’s ex-wife Maggie, will once again serve as a series regular after appearing in only a handful of episodes in Seasons 2 and 3.
Notably absent from the announced list of returning cast members is Yaya DaCosta, who plays the slick prosecutor Angela Freeman, who Mickey started dating in Season 3. Freeman was a key character in Seasons 2 and 3, so it would be a little strange if she just disappeared. Her absence from the renewal announcement doesn’t necessarily mean she’s being left out of Season 4 entirely — it would make sense for her, as a prosecutor, to get some distance from Mickey while he’s being credibly accused of murder, and she obviously would not be able to handle that case herself because of her conflict of interest.
New to this season is Sasha Alexander, who is joining the cast as an FBI agent. We’ve also got TV veterans Emmanuelle Chriqui (Entourage) and Jason O’Mara (Terra Nova). O’Mara will play Jack Gilroy, the new boyfriend of Mickey’s ex-wife Maggie, and Chriqui will appear as Jeanine Ferrigno, the girlfriend of a gangster who’s somehow involved in Mickey’s case. The series is also adding Javon Johnson as Carter Gates, someone else accused of a murder they probably didn’t commit — this character is original to the show, so they might be a wild card. Kyle Richards will play Celeste, a rich lady who wants to hire Lorna for to handle her divorce while all this stuff is going on. Meanwhile, renowned chef Nancy Silverton will make a cameo appearance on the show as herself.
Cobie Smulders, meanwhile, is joining the cast in an undisclosed role, which may mean she’s playing someone original. Unlike most of these books, Mickey’s half brother Harry Bosch plays a big role in the novel that Season 4 is based on — but since Bosch is an Amazon Prime Video series, a crossover is very unlikely. It could be, then, that Smulders’ character will fill that Bosch-shaped hole in the plot.
