ALJAZ Škorjanec has broken his silence after the brutal “bloodbath” of pro dancers being axed from Strictly Come Dancing.

Five of the professional dancers were all let go at once earlier this week in a major shake up.

They included Karen Hauer, Gorka Marquez, Nadiya Bychkova, Luba Mushtuk and Michelle Tsiakkas.

Now Aljaz has spoken up for the first time since everything went down, sharing how he feels and what his future may look like with the BBC show.

Speaking to Mirror, the dancer said: “I’ve been lucky enough to do the show for a long time, and last year was my 11th season.

“I’ve seen a lot of people come and go. It’s always sad to see someone go, but it’s equally exciting to see new faces, fresh energy, and people who bring something different.”

He continued: “Strictly has always evolved like that. It means the show never gets stale.

“Also, every celebrity I dance with is different every year, so no day is ever the same.

“Whoever is standing next to you, it’s all about them, and they’re always different people. That’s why I love Strictly.”

Sharing whether he plans to return this year, Aljaz said: “We’re all awaiting for the official announcement.

“They don’t announce the names of dancers returning until it’s confirmed.

“Whatever the Strictly bosses do, it’s in the interest of the show, and we always support their decisions.

“So we’ll see who’s back. And hopefully, I’m back.”

As for the future, Aljaz appeared to dodge the question about whether he would consider ever going into hosting.

The star instead answered: “When I finish dancing, I want to work with John from LEON! [a friend who works at the restaurant he ate at during the interview].

“That’s what I want to do! I genuinely want to spend time with people I love and care about.

“John is one of them. I’m always going to be there for whatever he does.”

In the aftermath of the show’s large culling of pro dancers, other members of the show including Carlos Gu and Amy Dowden have been asked questions about it.

In a recent interview on BBC Breakfast the duo did their best to avoid any questions about the show’s shake up.

Broadcaster Charlie Stayt asked: “You will both be aware, I’m sure, it’s that time of year where there’s a lot of speculation about which dancers are going to be on Strictly Come Dancing – as in – on TV.

“There’s a lot of it knocking around at the moment, are you able to say anything about that?”

Remaining coy, Amy carefully replied: “You know, obviously, we’re getting asked this all the time.

“Nothing has been said by the BBC yet.

“We’re really hoping to be back dancing with our gorgeous Strictly family later this year but wait until any official announcements are made.”

She added: “There’s so much speculation but nothing has come from the BBC.”
