A MARRIED at First Sight groom stormed off camera and sensationally quit the show after his ‘sexist’ and ‘homophobic’ comments were exposed by his TV bride.

The couple sat down on the sofa for the fourth commitment ceremony of the series, when the dramatic scenes unfolded.

Intruder couple Stephanie and Tyson’s relationship has continued to be a rocky one since they said ‘I Do’ with the groom wanting a more ‘submissive’ partner than the one he was matched with.

As the two reflected on their week together, Stephanie told the experts about how she struggled with Tyson’s views on homosexuality, as expressed in his audition tape shown to her this week.

“Something that came from Tyson’s video interview was ‘I’m happy for you guys, be whoever you want to be but you know, you just keep it behind closed doors’.”

Tyson replied: “First of all, I’m not against gay people, I just feel like that whole topic can be pushed on us and just for me, I come from a traditional family and I’m not really comfortable with it. I’m just being brutally honest.”

It was then that co-stars and gay partnership Sammy and Chris hit back at Tyson’s response.

“It is hurtful to our community to hear that, it’s like us telling straight people to go do it behind closed doors, it’s not right,” said Chris.

While his groom Sammy told Tyson: “I don’t think you’ve got much empathy and you can’t say go do it behind closed doors – it just doesn’t make me feel like a person.”

“Maybe it came out wrong, I didn’t mean it to,” Tyson replied.

“The comment suppresses people and therefore we feel we need to stand up and create awareness and until that stops happening, there will be pride and all these things will still happen because we’re being surpressed and you’re an example that it still exists out there.”

“I don’t mean to come here and offend people, but I am very black and white with my approach to communication.”

“I’ve got to be honest with what I believe in.”

Stephanie then cut in and said Tyson needs a reminder that words can offend, and then turned the conversation back to the issue of her not being ‘submissive’ for him.

“He wants a wife to sit down, look pretty, speak when spoken to, don’t have an opinion unless you’re asked,” she said.

Tyson claimed her comments were ‘untrue’ and said he had a ‘lot of respect for women’.

“She’s making out that I hate women and that’s such a disgusting thing to say. I feel like she’s trying to put words in my mouth and trying to make me look like this bad person when I’m actually not.

“She’s making out I hate gay people, I’ve got gay friends and I like women as well. I’m not a bad guy and she is portraying me as a bad guy.”

“Quite frankly I don’t see a future with this girl and I’m going back to the Gold Coast, I’m done with this. I’m done with this bickering, I’m done with this bulls***.”

“I’m done with Steph, she’s not a traditional wife in my eyes. She’s a go-getter, which is great, but I don’t like her attitude towards me. I don’t see a future there.

“We bicker when I speak up and share my opinion,” his TV bride quipped in.

To which Tyson replied: “Am I supposed to be quiet?” with an incredulous Steph saying the same thing back to him.

Tyson then got up and said he was done, walking off-set and removing his microphone.

The camera then panned to Steph, who took off her wedding ring and burst into tears on the sofa.

Expert Mel Schilling then rushed over to comfort Steph, as several cast members said she deserved more and that the right guy was out there for her.
