Greg Gutfeld and Elena Moussa have been together for almost two decades, but one relationship expert thinks their relationship could turn sour over one big issue
Greg’s wife Elena is 17 years his junior
When it comes to a long-lasting and fulfilling relationship, relationship experts think Greg Gutfeld, 60, and his wife Elena Moussa, 43, need to be careful of one huge thing.
The Fox News star met Elena while on a work trip in Portugal in 2004, and it appeared the pair hit it off almost instantly, as they got married just a few months later.
While appearing on the Club Random Podcast in March 2023, the Gutfeld! host opened up about meeting his wife of over two decades for the first time. “I met her and I go, ‘Oh, that’s my wife.’ I just knew it,” he told host Bill Maher. “And then I spent three days in Portugal trying to talk to her.”
Despite being together for over two decades, Greg and Elena mainly keep their relationship out of the public eye. But in December 2024, the pair gave fans a small glimpse into their life together when they welcomed their first child, a daughter called Mira.
Greg and Elena have been married for over two decades
The couple announced their daughter’s birth in a statement shared with Fox News after Greg had been missing from the show for several weeks.
Things seem to be going well for the new parents, but wedding and relationship expert at The Foxy Hen, Gemma Logan, has warned there could be trouble in paradise.
Speaking exclusively to Irish Star US, Gemma explained, “Age gaps can absolutely work in relationships, but they do tend to bring their own challenges and benefits.
“In the case of Greg Gutfeld and Elena Moussa, their 17-year age difference isn’t necessarily a red flag. What matters more is how aligned they are in terms of lifestyle, energy and long-term goals. The upside is that different life experiences can offer balance.”
She elaborated, “One partner may be more established or emotionally steady, while the other brings fresh perspective or a different pace of life that keeps things exciting.”
However, this can also bring its own challenges. Gemma continued, “That said, age gaps can stir up friction around timing, whether it’s if or when to start a family, how to handle finances or even retirement plans.
“Social circles might differ, cultural references can be mismatched and sometimes one partner might take on a more parental or guiding role, which isn’t always healthy in the long run,” she continued.
“The relationship expert insisted, “Regular, honest communication is key. If you’re growing in the same direction and share values, then age becomes more of a number than a hurdle,” she concluded.
Giovanna Smith, Matchmaker and Relationship Expert, also echoed Gemma’s point of view.
She told us, “Age gaps don’t automatically determine compatibility — it’s all about the connection, shared values, and life goals. But they do shape the dynamic. One partner might be in a different life stage emotionally, professionally, or physically. This can bring balance — maturity meets youthful energy — but also challenges like differing health concerns, retirement timelines, or views on parenting.
“The key is open communication and a shared vision. If both people are growing in the same direction, age becomes just a number,” she added.
Giovanna applied this to the pair’s relationship, “In Greg and Elena’s case, meeting when he was 40 and she was just 23, then marrying after only five months, may have seemed fast and imbalanced in terms of life experience.
“But nearly two decades later, they’re still together — which speaks volumes. Sometimes emotional alignment outweighs societal expectations,” she added.
The expert raved, “While their age gap may have raised eyebrows at the time, the strength of their long-term bond suggests a relationship built on mutual understanding and compatibility.”
Giovanna concluded by pointing out, “It’s also notable that neither Greg nor Elena had been married before or had children from previous relationships. This suggests they made a conscious choice to build their first family together later in life — a decision that is deeply personal and often influenced by career demands, lifestyle priorities, or even private fertility journeys.”
