Stephen Colbert is wrapping up the final season of The Late Show with a bang, showcasing hilarious new impersonations and pulling no punches in his critiques of the Trump Administration as he trolls them.
The late night host also proving that he’ll be just fine post-show, as he continues to secure new roles. Colbert previously announced the cancellation of his show, with CBS confirming that the upcoming season would be the last.
This decision was made shortly after Colbert criticized their settlement with Donald Trump over a 60 Minutes interview, and before their merger with Skydance received FCC approval. Despite thishe hasn’t hesitated to take aim at all of the involved parties since, especially in light of the government shutdown.
Since then, he has bagged an Emmy Award for the show, possibly sending a message to both CBS and Trump, and it seems new opportunities are definitely on the horizon for the late-night star.

The episode, set to air on October 12, will see him play Scotty Bristol, the fictional host of a late-night show called Way Late with Scotty Bristol. It’s thought that this cameo was organized before the announcement of The Late Show’s cancellation.
Now, a second new role has been revealed – with Colbert himself breaking the news in a pre-recorded message for fans that premiered at New York Comic Con.
In the footage, he revealed he had become part of Paramount+’s forthcoming series, Star Trek: Starfleet Academy. Within the production, he will function as a voice performer, bringing to life the “Digital Dean” overseeing students at the training facility.

During the reveal video, Colbert also provided an amusing sample of one of the declarations his fresh character will broadcast to cadets throughout the program.
“I’ll get to announce things like, ‘Attention Ensign Krebs, your Talaxian furfly has exited the replicator and is not mating with itself. Please report to Science Lab 1 immediately. Children are watching,’” he said.
“That’s an actual line,” he added.
Information regarding the program remains mostly confidential, although supporters have been eagerly awaiting it for some time. The series is planned to chronicle a fresh group of cadets who are managing both personal lives and scientific studies within the Federation’s elite training initiative.
The announcement of this new position arrives as Colbert’s program continues broadcasting its 11th and concluding season. He assumed control of The Late Show from David Letterman in 2015, following the former host’s tenure with the show since its 1993 launch.
