Netflix is no stranger when it comes to hit crime thrillers and now another is on the way, this time based on an “iconic detective”.
Crime thriller fans have their next binge-watch sorted, with an “adrenalin-fuelled” Netflix series arriving sooner than expected.
Heralding the “beginning of a new era”, celebrated Norwegian crime writer Jo Nesbo’s bestselling book series Detective Hole is set to be adapted for the small screen for the very first time.
Originally publishing the first novel in the late 1990s, Detective Hole is a gripping whodunnit serial killer mystery centred around “iconic detective” Harry Hole.
It has now been confirmed that Jo Nesbo’s Detective Hole will make its Netflix debut on Thursday, March 26, with all nine episodes landing simultaneously.
The streaming giant has also dropped its official trailer to whet appetites, and judging by the newly released footage, Detective Hole is not something crime fanatics will want to miss.

Stepping into the shoes of Detective Hole is Norwegian actor Tobias Santelmann, perhaps best recognised for his role as Ragnar in The Last Kingdom.
He is joined by The Killing’s Joel Kinnaman, Blind Spot actress Pia Tjelta and Exit actor Simon J Berger, among others.
Portraying Detective Hole as an “anti-hero”, the official synopsis states: “Underneath the surface, this series is a nuanced character drama about two police officers – and supposed colleagues – operating on opposite sides of the law.
“Throughout the season, Harry goes head-to-head with his long-time adversary and corrupt detective Tom Waaler.
“Harry is a brilliant but tormented homicide detective who struggles with his demons.
“As the two navigate the blurred ethical lines of the criminal justice system, Harry must do all he can to catch a serial killer and bring Waaler to justice before it is too late.”

Actor Tobias Santelmann said: “Harry Hole isn’t just another detective – he is a character readers around the world have lived with for almost 30 years, and I am grateful for the opportunity to bring him to the screen.
“I approached this role with deep respect for Jo Nesbø’s work and for the audience that has followed Harry for so long.
“At the same time, I had to find my Harry – or our Harry – and I hope we’ve created something that feels true to the spirit of the books while also standing on its own.”
Whilst this marks Detective Hole’s debut television adaptation, several of Nesbo’s other works have previously been adapted for screen.
These include his novels Headhunters, Occupied, Deadline Torp and The Hanging Sun, which was transformed into a film in 2022.
Jo Nesbo’s Detective Hole premieres on Thursday, March 26, on Netflix.
