A new eight-part horror series which follows a couple the week before their wedding has been branded one of the best shows Netflix has released in a ‘very, very long time’ and viewers are gripped

An “intense” new Netflix miniseries has been hailed as one of the best shows the platform has released in a “very, very long time” – and viewers are “hooked”.

There’s no shortage of compelling and addictive television shows to watch across a range of streaming services, whether it’s the hit medical drama The Pitt, available via HBO Max, the Netflix comedy thriller How to Get to Heaven From Belfast, and many, many more.

One TV enthusiast, who has carved out a career reviewing and recommending shows and films to the public, has urged people to “stop” what they’re doing and instead binge a new eight-part horror series from Netflix.

So, what’s the show in question? It’s Something Very Bad is Going to Happen, a miniseries created by Haley Z. Boston and executive produced by the Duffer brothers, renowned for Stranger Things.

It follows couple Rachel and Nicky the week before their wedding, when a series of “very bad” events begin to unfold and disrupt the impending nuptials.

It begins as an atmospheric thriller, with Rachel’s anxiety and natural inclination towards negative, dark thoughts leading her to suspect that Nicky’s family are trying to kill her before she – and viewers – learn it’s much more complex and strange than that.

The show then delves deeply into horror with a gory, blood-soaked finale that’s had Netflix viewers on “the edge of their seat”.

Luke Ecclestone, who shares content online as Eccy Reviews, has gained hundreds of thousands of followers on social media where he posts his views and commentary on a variety of films and television shows.

In a recent video uploaded to TikTok, he urged followers to tune into the show. He began: “Stop whatever you’re doing, cancel all your plans because this new show on Netflix needs to be your next watch.”

Eccy continued: “The show you need to go and watch is called Something Very Bad is Going to Happen. Now, trust me right now, you need to go and watch this show.

“It is an eight part series created by the Duffer brothers, who made Stranger Things, however this is a dark, intense horror which everyone needs to go and see because it is amazing.

“This follows Rachel one week before her wedding when creepy, weird, horrific stuff begins to happen and, oh my god, was I hooked.”

He added: “Now this is one of the best shows Netflix have dropped in a very, very long time. From that first episode, I was gripped, I was hooked, I was on the edge of my seat and, trust me, you’re gonna spend the next eight hours binge-watching this show.”

He claimed the show was going to be “number one” on Netflix’s trending list. In the comments section, fellow TikTok users were eager to share their thoughts.

One quipped: “Cancelled my heart transplant to watch this”.

Another said: “OMG I’VE SEEN THE FIRST 3 AND IT’S BRILLIANT”. A third commented: “This show was SOOO good. That last episode is so worth it”.

A fourth concurred: “It was Amazing omg. I just finished all 8 episodes”.

Another said: “just started this.. episode 1 is giving me ‘Twin Peaks’ vibes”.

One TikTok user shared: “Just finished it! I loved it”.

And another simply said: “The ending… wtf”.

However, one person said: “It starts off really creepy but then I got bored”.

In response, another said: “I got bored too but the ratings were good so I gave it a shot and oh my god that ending!!! I’m so glad I made it to episode 4 where you start getting more info”.
