EXCLUSIVE: Royal expert Ian Pelham Turner has seen a royal unraveling before and jumped to Meghan Markle’s defense
Meghan Markle married into the Royal Family in 2018 and things seemed to be going well, perhaps a little too well, as the Firm is not a fan of “outsiders” becoming too popular, says one royal expert.
Ian Pelham Turner, whose time as a royal photographer goes back to the Princess Diana days, shared his thoughts on the Duchess’ time as a member of the Firm.
According to Pelham Turner, Meghan didn’t do everything right, but based on what he knows of the Royal Family, she really didn’t have a chance. It comes after another royal expert revealed the family’s gesture to William that caused lasting ‘resentment’ from Harry and Meghan.
In an interview, Mr. Pelham Turner said: “When I look at Meghan, and she’s not done everything right, I get it, but knowing how I’ve seen in the past, how strenuous, women are treated in the Royal Family, at times, I can truly believe it may not be totally the case, but I feel the Meghan needed help, she apparently tried to reach out for help, and no one was prepared to help her.”
Meghan’s popularity was the beginning of the end

This isn’t the first time the royal photographer witnessed a royal unraveling, it also happened with Princess Diana and Sarah Ferguson, in which Pelham Turner elaborated on.
He explained: “Now, Royal Families hate it when an outsider — they saw it with Diana, they saw it with Sarah Ferguson, they were just normal women, well, I say ‘normal women,’ they were extraordinary women, but they were women born outside the royal family — and they became so popular.”
He added: “And the establishment hated it, the Royal Family hated it, in the end, Charles had his own PR team, Diana had her own PR team.”
Harry and Meghan are happily married, it’s being repaired, but there was a divorce of sorts, when the Sussexes stepped back from the Royal Family, resigning from their royal duties and moving to the US, and as a result they can pursue commercial opportunities.
The second season of Meghan’s Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, premieres today and whether it flies or dives, at least she has the freedom to pursue her interests and put her talents to the test, which wasn’t the case when she was living in the UK.
