Alessandra and Steve came head to head on MAFS Australia

The latest series of MAFS Australia has been wild.

We’ve had Chris Nield saying his turn offs are ‘fake tans, needy and fat people’, Brook Crompton and Gia Fleur have been branded ‘mean girls’ following their bizarre behaviour and Mel Akbay received backlash amid her treatment towards husband Luke Fourniotis.

And now, Steve Powell has caused a stir during an awkward conversation with Married at First Sight expert Alessandra Rampolla. During an intimacy workshop with the grooms, Alessandra asked Steve about his relationship with his wife Rebecca Zukowski and it pretty much went downhill from there.

‘I feel like you’re skirting around my questions and trying to sound good and I don’t really like that,’ Alessandra told the MAFS groom.

Steve hit back and said, ‘Well, I disagree with you. Ask me a question and I’ll give you a genuine answer, I don’t have an earpiece in my ear.

‘I’m not waiting for someone to tell me what to say.’

Alessandra then went on to say, ‘I’m not waiting for anyone to tell me what to say. Honestly, the lack of respect you’re showing me as somebody who is here to help guide you is appalling.

‘Really tread lightly, I don’t take to this well.’

And when Steve attempted to backtrack and insist he wasn’t throwing shade at Alessandra, the sex expert hit back and said, ‘Honestly, who else would you be referring to? It’s so absurd.’

Now though, Alessandra has spoken out about the incident and what was really going on.

‘We are of course filming a TV show. Cameras are involved and there’s a control room, and I need to know the cameras are ready and when I can go and when I cannot,’ she told Channel Nine.

‘I was very surprised he went the confrontational route because I was pressing him because he wasn’t being forthright in his answers. When he didn’t give a clear and direct answer he then came on the attack, I wasn’t expecting that.

‘That’s one of the things that will happen on Married At First Sight, you’re put in situations where your true colours will come out. You’re pushed in different ways and that was [him] showing his discomfort.’

Hundreds of people were quick to praise Alessandra with one person commenting, ‘I love Alessandra standing in her power. Grace and composure.’

Someone else said, ‘You go Alessandra ! 👏.’

A third wrote, ‘I absolutely love Alessandra. She’s clearly a true professional with legitimate qualifications and genuine care for her field and the couples. She’s also such a strong woman who can hold her own. Props to you babe.’

One more added, ‘I’m confused, why do those people go to this show when they don’t even try to have a go for their relationship?’
