Fans say that the ‘mind blowing’ ending is unforgettable
A ‘mind blowing’ sci-fi thriller starring acclaimed actor Nicolas Cage is set to disappear from Netflix very shortly.
This comes less than a year after the title became an unexpected hit on the platform.
Despite Knowing achieving only a 35% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, the film managed to attract a fresh audience and garner newfound appreciation following its addition to Netflix.
At one stage last year, it became one of the most watched films amongst subscribers. Regrettably, time is now running out for further viewers to discover the title. A notice on the platform now indicates that the final day to watch is April 14.
According to the synopsis, the film’s story begins fifty years after a time capsule was buried. Upon being unearthed, a schoolgirl’s cryptic document is discovered inside, reports the Mirror.

This falls into the hands of Caleb Koestler, the son of professor John Koestler, portrayed by Nicolas Cage.
John determines that the encoded message accurately catalogues every major disaster from the past five decades, and forecasts three future calamities, one of which is a global cataclysm. When his warnings are ignored, John enlists the assistance of the prophetic author’s daughter and granddaughter in a bid to avert the ultimate catastrophe.
Whilst it may not have been a critical favourite, the film still boasts plenty of admirers who champion it enthusiastically. One of them posted online saying: “Highly underrated movie. Far better than most destruction, end of world movies.”

Another remarked: “I honestly don’t see how this film isn’t viewed for its masterful execution. I humbly believe that this film will someday be reappraised as being a seminal work in the disaster genre.”
Whilst a further viewer noted: “Won’t ever forget this one, I can even tell my friends what happened and what are the highlights. Love the creepy parts and the suspenseful twist of events especially that mind blowing ending. Thumbs up!”.
One individual went as far as to declare: “One of the best science fiction films over the past 30 years. Keeps you on the edge of the sofa from start to end.
“Most if not all of the special effects are first class. Knowing is more spiritual in a sense and draws the attention towards the unknown future. The last scenes are very emotional and thought provoking.”
Yet another took issue with several of the professional critiques, contending: “Knowing works at every level. It is a brilliantly executed film. And the final is breathtaking.”
Knowing is streaming on Netflix until April 14.
