The Duke of Sussex penned an essay on what it means to be British, with an expert believing the essay showed signs of homesickness.

Prince Harry penned an essay earlier this month that saw him address just how much he loves his home country. While the Duke of Sussex, 41, hasn’t lived in Britain for some time – having quit royal duties in 2020 – it seems that his love for his home country hasn’t faded.
This was clear for all to see in his essay ‘The Bond, The Banter, The Bravery: What it means to be British – By Prince Harry’, which sees Harry talking about all things that make someone British. In one comment, he writes: “Though currently, I may live in the United States, Britain is, and always will be, the country I proudly served and fought for.
“The banter of the mess, the clubhouse, the pub, the stands ridiculous as it sounds, these are the things that make us British. I make no apology for it. I love it.”
While this may simply be a case of Harry feeling nostalgic, communications specialist Judi James thinks that these comments in particular suggest that the prince is feeling “homesick” living in America.
James also said that the use of the word “currently” in his essay suggests that he may not see America, where he has lived since 2020 with his wife Meghan Markle and their two children, as his forever home.
She told the Mirror: “‘Though currently, I may live in the United States,’ is the fascinating line though, both for its wording and its use of punctuation. ‘Though I now live in the United States’ would be a statement of non-negotiable fact.
“But Harry adds ‘currently’ and ‘may’ to make it sound less fixed and solid. The use of the word ‘currently’ sounds negotiable, appearing to hint at a return to the UK.”

She continued: “It sounds like a teaser in terms of a return to the UK… Harry’s choice of wording hints that he’s not only possibly homesick but that a return of some sort might be on the horizon.”
Since 2020, Harry and Meghan have called a sprawling estate in Montecito home with their two children Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four.
Harry has praised his life in America many times, saying he is “grateful” for the lifestyle he lives.
