Fans have rediscovered the 10-part Netflix series with an impressive Rotten Tomatoes rating

Netflix viewers are only now rediscovering a ‘bonkers’ 10-part series that’s being hailed as a ‘perfect weekend binge’.

The programme in question is titled Teenage Bounty Hunters and appears to have slipped under the radar for many when it initially launched back in 2020.

Nevertheless, there remain some viewers who still wonder why additional seasons weren’t commissioned.

It was penned by Kathleen Jordan who has subsequently created the miniseries The Decameron for the streaming platform in 2024.

According to its description, the series chronicles sixteen year old twin sisters Sterling and Blair as they juggle life and romance at an exclusive Southern high school.

evertheless, after becoming involved in a car crash one evening whilst using their father’s truck without authorisation, they end up launching an unexpected new profession as bounty hunters.

It isn’t long before they discover themselves partnering with seasoned bounty hunter Bowser Jenkins, for an outrageous adventure as they plunge into the realm of bail-jumping criminals and suburban mysteries whilst still attempting to manage their own high school turmoil, reports the Mirror.

A startling reason why it isn’t a widely discussed and well-remembered series is that it was a critical triumph. It boasts an outstanding 94% rating on the website Rotten Tomatoes and furthermore, its audience score stands at 96%.

One critic went as far as declaring: “It’s bonkers, but very smart, fun bonkers. It’s a little miracle of wit and acidic snark, with a healthy dose of satire aimed at rich, white Evangelicals that never goes too far in the direction of outright sneering.”

Meanwhile, The Guardian’s assessment noted: “It’s also just a really cracking way to spend a series of evenings – or to devour in a one-day binge. It’s oddly satisfying to watch two high schoolers take down a snobby man hiding out in his holiday mansion. It’s refreshing to see two women talk openly about their feelings and their sex lives with no shame or embarrassment. It’s frustrating in the best of ways, as your theories about the season-long mystery are proven over and over again to be wrong.”

Viewers who have stumbled upon the programme amongst their extensive Netflix catalogue have expressed comparable opinions and acclaim. Particularly, most suggest it as an excellent weekend marathon watch, whilst numerous fans admit to completing all episodes within a single day.

One viewer shared on social media: “Amazing show with potential and actresses. Exciting plot. I binge watched it the whole day.”

Another concurred: “I watched it in a day. The story is super original, characters are lovable and funny, really the comedy its on point. Even if we don’t get a second season, I recommend watching it, the cast did an amazing job.”

While one viewer shared on the Netflix subreddit: “I just binged watched the whole season and this show just continues to get better and better to the craziest damn cliffhanger ending just wow.”

They went on: “Seriously, this show literally gets better every episode, I expected nothing from it, it’s easily in my top 10 shows of the last decade at least. Words can’t describe how blown away I am having little to no expectations for this show to now having not been able to stop watching till the end. Can’t recommend it enough, easy 9/10. Starts better than you expect and just keeps exceeding expectations till the very end.”
