Tom Read Wilson admits he’d have felt a ‘great pang of guilt’ if he won I’m A Celebrity as he hails Angryginge the ‘rightful’ King of the Jungle
Tom Read Wilson has revealed he would have been wracked with a “great pang of guilt” had he gone on to win I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here!, insisting that this year’s crown could only belong to one man.
The Celebs Go Dating host, 39, finished as runner-up in Sunday night’s ITV final, beaten by social media sensation Morgan Burtwistle – better known to millions as Angryginge – who was crowned King of the Jungle after weeks of gruelling trials, stomach-churning challenges and emotional campfire moments.
And far from feeling disappointed, Tom has been full of praise for the YouTuber, declaring that Angryginge “had to win” after proving himself to be, in Tom’s words, “the titan of the trials”.
Speaking candidly after leaving the Australian jungle, Tom admitted that while reaching the final was an honour, lifting the crown himself would not have felt right.

“I would have felt a great pang of guilt if I’d won,” he confessed. “Watching Morgan throw himself into every trial, every challenge, again and again – it was extraordinary. He earned it. He absolutely had to win.”
Angryginge, 22, became a firm favourite with viewers thanks to his fearless attitude when faced with the show’s toughest Bushtucker Trials. From crawling through pitch-black tunnels filled with snakes to being submerged in tanks crawling with spiders and rats, the influencer consistently stepped forward when the camp needed a volunteer.
Tom was quick to acknowledge that bravery, saying: “He was the titan of the trials. There was never a moment where he shied away. When things were scary or disgusting, he just got on with it – and that takes real courage.”
The unlikely friendship between the flamboyant etiquette expert and the straight-talking online star quickly became one of the standout dynamics of the series. Despite their very different backgrounds, the pair bonded over long jungle nights, shared meals of rice and beans, and the collective struggle of camp life.
Reflecting on his own journey, Tom described the experience as “utterly unforgettable” and said reaching the final had already exceeded his expectations.

“I went in hoping I wouldn’t disgrace myself,” he joked. “To come out as runner-up is more than I ever imagined. But honestly, watching Morgan’s journey made it feel like the result was exactly as it should be.”
Angryginge’s victory marked a significant moment for the show, with many fans praising ITV for casting a younger social media star who proved he could thrive in one of television’s toughest reality formats.
Throughout the series, Morgan surprised both campmates and viewers with his emotional openness, particularly when discussing the pressures of online fame and his close relationship with his family. Those moments, combined with his trial-dominating performances, helped cement his popularity.
Tom agreed, saying: “People saw a real person, not just a character from the internet. He showed heart, vulnerability, humour – and then went out and smashed the trials. That combination is why people voted for him.”
Social media was flooded with reactions following the final, with many viewers echoing Tom’s sentiments. “Angryginge carried the trials this year,” one fan wrote on X, while another added: “Tom Read Wilson was a delight, but Morgan absolutely deserved that crown.”
Others praised Tom’s gracious response to losing out on the title, describing him as “the classiest runner-up in years”.
During his time in camp, Tom became known for his impeccable manners, theatrical flair and surprisingly steely resilience. Despite early nerves about the physical challenges, he threw himself into jungle life, earning respect from his fellow campmates.
However, he maintained that the win was never his to take.
“There are moments when you think, ‘Could I actually do this?’” he said. “But then you see someone like Morgan, who just keeps stepping forward, keeps delivering for the camp. That’s when you realise the crown has already found its head.”
As for Angryginge, he was visibly overwhelmed after being announced as the winner, dedicating his victory to his family and thanking viewers for supporting him.
“I never thought I’d be standing here,” he said during his emotional acceptance speech. “I just tried to give it my all.”
Tom watched on proudly, later adding: “I couldn’t have been happier for him. It felt like the jungle chose its king.”
With the series now over, Tom is looking forward to returning to normal life – including hot baths, proper food and his role on Celebs Go Dating. Yet he admits a part of the jungle will stay with him forever.
“It strips you back to your core,” he reflected. “And when you see someone rise to the challenge the way Morgan did, you can’t help but admire it.”
As fans continue to debate the most memorable moments of the series, one thing appears certain: even the runner-up believes this year’s I’m A Celebrity winner was exactly the right choice.
