Nicolas Hamilton shared emotional news with fans after losing a companion of more than 16 years, prompting memories of a similar heartbreak in the Hamilton family.
Nicolas Hamilton, brother of seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton, shared devastating news with fans, announcing the passing of his beloved dog, Oscar.
The British racing driver posted a touching tribute on Instagram, expressing the depth of his grief and gratitude for the 16 and a half years they shared.

“Oscar dog…. Boy, am I so lucky to have had you in my life for 16.5 amazing years. It’s been the saddest couple of days to know you have gone, but I am truly thankful to have had the opportunity to have loved you so much. Love is a privilege to feel,” Hamilton wrote.
He continued by reflecting on Oscar’s unwavering presence during the highest and lowest points of his life.
“You were the rock that supported me & the family through some of our toughest times & were there through our happiest times. Everyone that met you fell in love with you; you brought them nothing but laughter, happiness, and joy. Thank you for being the best dog a boy could ever ask for. Love Always, my boy,” he concluded with a heart emoji.
The emotional message resonated with fans across the motorsport community, many of whom offered condolences and shared memories of their own pets in response to Nicolas’ post.
Lewis Hamilton Has Felt This Pain Before
Lewis Hamilton himself has been open about the heartbreak that comes with losing a pet. His dog Roscoe, who became beloved by F1 fans worldwide, passed away in September 2025.
The Ferrari driver shared an emotional tribute at the time, describing Roscoe not only as a pet but as his “true friend,” who received a heartfelt tribute during the Mexico Grand Prix weekend.
Roscoe frequently appeared in the F1 paddock, featured in photoshoots, and even joined the British driver on jogs and training sessions. The bond between them became one of the most recognizable pet-owner relationships in the sporting world.
When Roscoe died, the 40-year-old driver spoke about the deep pain of the loss and how difficult it was to say goodbye after years of companionship.
With Nicolas now going through the same heartbreak, fans have drawn parallels between the brothers’ emotional tributes. Both Hamiltons clearly shared profound connections with their pets, making this moment especially difficult for the family.
