Netflix dropped the first season of Ransom Canyon on its platform in April 2025, and tons of people tuned in to see what it was all about and if it was any good. Most viewers enjoyed the romantic western series, and honestly, it isn’t hard to see why.

From the very first episode, the show pulls you into a world of sprawling ranches, sun-soaked landscapes, and small-town drama that feels bigger than life. The stakes are high, the romances are swoon-worthy, and the family rivalries are messy, intense, and totally addictive. Due to the first season’s high viewership, Netflix made the right choice and renewed the series for a second installment in June 2025.

Since then, fans have been eagerly awaiting any updates or details about the upcoming installment. Besides production starting, it’s mostly been casting news that’s kept excitement alive. However, that changes now. There’s finally been an update that’s more than just finding out who’s joining the cast.

Ransom Canyon season 2 wraps filming

This is the latest major update for Ransom Canyon season 2. The cameras officially started rolling on the second season in late September 2025. According to What’s on Netflix, the cast and crew are reportedly set to wrap filming on Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2026. That’s today!

Although no main cast members have posted on social media about their final day on set yet, one did give fans an update last week on the show’s progress in production. On Jan. 10, Garrett Wareing, who plays Lucas Russell, posted a fun video of himself and a co-star dancing on his TikTok. But it’s the video’s caption that will really grab your attention. The caption reads, “How we’re feeling on our last week shooting Ransom Canyon Season 2 @lizzy greene :P.” From his post, it was clear that filming was in the final stretch. Now, the big day has arrived.

While Netflix hasn’t made a big announcement about production on Ransom Canyon season 2 finishing up today, we can probably expect it soon. However, there’s also a chance that the streaming giant might not make an official announcement. Netflix doesn’t always report production milestones publicly. We can only hope that we’ll get some kind of confirmation soon. Now, here’s the not-so-good news.

Ransom Canyon season 2 might be delayed to 2027

Although not confirmed, this could happen for Ransom Canyon season 2. The second season might not come out until sometime in 2027. Why? The show was left off Netflix’s 2026 lineup of upcoming series, which implies that we might not see a new season this year. While shows like The Lincoln Lawyer season 4, Virgin River season 7, Sweet Magnolias season 5, and The Gentlemen season 2 were included, Ransom Canyon season 2 was nowhere to be found on the list.

This news comes as somewhat of a surprise. Production is about to wrap up, and we doubt post-production will take long for a series like this. Surely, Ransom Canyon season 2 could still make a 2026 release. So, what’s going on? Why did Netflix leave this show off the list?

Well, the streaming giant did note in a press release that the list was not comprehensive. This means some shows launching in 2026 will be announced later in the year. So while Ransom Canyon season 2 wasn’t included this time, it doesn’t necessarily mean fans will have to wait until 2027. It could still appear in Netflix’s lineup once the official announcements continue. That’s what we’re keeping our hopes on! Until then, fans will have to wait patiently.
