Sean Hannity faced widespread criticism Tuesday after failing to question Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick’s assertions about a Supreme Court tariff case during a Fox News interview.

The backlash erupted following Lutnick’s appearance on Hannity’s program, where the Commerce Secretary expressed confidence about the outcome of a major tariff case before the Supreme Court.

“The only thing missing was walk-on and walk-off music and a halftime show,” Lutnick said during the broadcast.

The Commerce Secretary cited pushback by Justice Brett Kavanaugh as evidence that the court would rule in the administration’s favor.

Lutnick recounted Kavanaugh presenting a hypothetical scenario to opposing counsel about presidential authority to terminate trade relationships versus imposing tariffs, which then he called “a very odd doughnut.”

“The justices were on the president’s side. You’re hearing it here from me. President Trump is going to win this case,” Lutnick declared during the interview.

Social media users quickly criticized the interview.

“Because no traditional news outlet would ever ask that question,” one user wrote on X.

Another jokingly wrote, “He always has the worst takes on everything.”

Critics argued that widespread tariff implementation would ultimately burden American consumers and small businesses.
