Margarida Corceiro, the girlfriend of Lando Norris, has confessed she has no interest in Formula One and only attends races to support her partner. The McLaren star has enjoyed an outstanding campaign this season, topping the World Drivers’ Championship standings with just three outings remaining.

Norris, who came second to Max Verstappen last year, currently holds a 24-point advantage over teammate Oscar Piastri and a 49-point advantage over the four-time Red Bull champion. McLaren are also leading the charge for the World Constructors’ Championship crown, having accumulated 756 points.Norris looks destined to become the 11th British racer to become an F1 champion. Jenson Button got his hands on the trophy for the first time with Brawn – later Mercedes – back in 2009, while Lewis Hamilton won his first title in 2008 before adding six more to his collection.

The McLaren driver is just weeks from writing his name into the record books, yet Corceiro remains unfazed by the magnitude of what lies ahead. The Portuguese model has been a familiar face in the paddock throughout this campaign, backing Norris at every opportunity.

Speaking to Jornal de Notícias, Corceiro acknowledged she has little understanding of motorsport. As quoted by The Sun, the 23-year-old said: “I don’t feel any pressure to be a public figure.

“I’m there to support someone. I have nothing to do with it. I don’t know anything about cars.

“I’m good for nothing other than to support someone.”

Corceiro, who boasts over 2.2 million followers on Instagram, has claimed that she’s not intimidated by the cameras or public scrutiny. She added: “I don’t call the cameras. I have nothing to do with it; it’s not my job or my area.

“If they record me, they record me. If they don’t record me, it doesn’t matter. Obviously, there are a lot of cameras everywhere, but sometimes I don’t realise if I’m being recorded or not.”

This season, Corceiro has been accompanied in the paddock by Charles Leclerc’s fiancée, Alexandra Saint Mleux, Alex Albon’s girlfriend, Lily He, and Verstappen’s partner, Kelly Piquet.

Carlos Sainz recently expressed his frustration at the media coverage of Formula One drivers’ partners. The Williams driver said: “I think you have to show more respect for the competition on the track.

“I had four or five overtaking manoeuvres in Singapore, and they didn’t show any of them. They also didn’t show Fernando Alonso chasing Lewis Hamilton on the last lap.

“In my opinion, they’re starting to overdo it a bit these days with showing celebrities and the drivers’ girlfriends.”

The broadcasting companies took note of the complaint, and no WAGs were televised at the subsequent race. An official statement from Formula One read: “Our focus is always on providing fans with the best possible images of the race.

“There are no compromises when it comes to the most important aspect – what’s happening on the track. Our team does a great job of showing complex situations with different cars in different positions, and putting them into the context of the reactions in the stands, from important guests, and the surroundings of the venue.”
