From the jungle to the dancefloor: I’m A Celebrity star Martin Kemp brings the 80s back to Wolverhampton

Fresh from swapping rice and beans for rave reviews, I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! favourite Martin Kemp is heading straight from the Australian jungle to the heart of the Midlands.

The Spandau Ballet star and former EastEnders bad boy has announced he will be bringing his hugely popular Back to the 80s show to The Halls in Wolverhampton next spring — promising a night packed with nostalgia, chart-topping hits and neon-soaked memories from one of pop music’s most iconic decades.

Kemp, 64, will take to the stage on April 11, with the show kicking off at 7pm, and tickets already flying off the shelves. Seats are priced at up to £30.90, available via the University of Wolverhampton at The Halls website.

The announcement comes hot on the heels of Kemp’s appearance on this year’s series of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, where he quickly became one of the most popular campmates thanks to his warmth, humour and stories from a life lived firmly in the spotlight.

Although he was voted off as the sixth contestant, fans were gutted to see him leave, with many branding him a “true gentleman” of the jungle.

This year’s series ultimately saw YouTube star Angryginge crowned King of the Jungle, but Kemp’s presence left a lasting impression — both on viewers and his fellow campmates.

Speaking after his exit, Kemp admitted that while the jungle challenges were tough, the real highlight for him was the people.

“The highlights for me were without a doubt my campmates,” he said. “Sharing that experience with people like Ruby Wax and Alex Scott made it unforgettable.”

Kemp struck up a particularly close bond with comic Ruby Wax, whose sharp wit and emotional honesty resonated with him, as well as former footballer and broadcaster Alex Scott, whom he praised for her resilience and kindness.

Fans watching at home were treated to candid moments from Kemp as he reflected on his decades-long career — from global pop superstardom with Spandau Ballet, to his iconic role as scheming nightclub owner Steve Owen in EastEnders.

And now, he’s ready to relive the era that made him a household name.

His Back to the 80s tour has become something of a cult hit across the UK, blending live DJ sets, behind-the-scenes stories and a soundtrack stuffed with era-defining anthems.

Expect hits from Spandau Ballet, of course, alongside classics from Duran Duran, Wham!, Culture Club, Madonna, and more — all delivered with Kemp’s trademark charm and insider anecdotes from the height of the New Romantic movement.

For Kemp, the show is about more than just music.

“It’s about taking people back to a time when music felt exciting, fashion was fearless and everyone just wanted to dance,” he has previously said.

The Wolverhampton date is expected to draw fans from across the Midlands, with The Halls fast becoming one of the region’s most sought-after entertainment venues following its recent relaunch.

His jungle stint has introduced him to a whole new generation of fans — many of whom knew him first as Roman Kemp’s famous dad, rather than as one of the original kings of 80s pop.

Roman, a radio and TV presenter in his own right, has been vocal in his support of his father throughout the jungle series, regularly sharing proud messages on social media.

Back home, Kemp’s wife Shirlie Holliman, also a pop icon as part of Wham!, has been cheering him on — making the upcoming tour a full-circle moment for one of music’s most enduring couples.

While some celebrities struggle to regain momentum after reality TV, Kemp appears to be doing the opposite — using the jungle as a springboard to remind fans exactly why he remains such a beloved figure.

With his mix of nostalgia, storytelling and pure 80s energy, Back to the 80s is shaping up to be one of the must-see live events of the spring.
