A Netflix series has taken a swipe at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle just months after the couple’s deal with the streaming giant was watered down.
In the new season of Nobody Wants This, a shouting fight emerges between Joanne, played by Kristen Bell, and her sister Morgan, portrayed by Justine Lupe, over a relationship.
During the argument, Joanne asks her sister: “Am I supposed to believe everything you say? According to you, you could have been Meghan Markle.”
Morgan responds: “I said I saw Prince Harry at a bar and there was a vibe, okay? And there was a vibe!”
The joke comes as the couple’s fresh agreement with Netflix, struck in the summer, has been dubbed an “elegant way to cut ties”.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex signed a highly lucrative deal with the streaming giant in 2020 after stepping down as working members of the Royal Family.
Valued at a reported £75million over five years, the agreement was set to expire this year.
However, an extension of the creative partnership has been agreed through Archewell Productions in the form of a multi-year first look deal for film and television projects.

The couple’s original deal was valued at £75million.
| GETTYA source claimed that this allows Netflix to easily cut ties with the Duke and Duchess of Sussex if they see no value in the couple’s fresh projects.
A source in the TV industry told the Mail: “This announcement is potentially an elegant way for Netflix to cut its ties with the Sussexes if they don’t come up with anything juicy and personal, such as their 2022 docu-series Harry & Meghan.”
Regarding the amount the Sussexes will be paid in the agreement, a spokesman for the couple said: “I can say no more owing to commercially confidential contractual agreements.”
Meghan celebrated the deal when it was signed, saying she and Harry felt “proud”.

The Duchess of Sussex said: “We’re proud to extend our partnership with Netflix and expand our work together to include the As Ever brand.
“My husband and I feel inspired by our partners who work closely with us and our Archewell Productions team to create thoughtful content across genres that resonates globally, and celebrates our shared vision.”
Bela Bajaria, Netflix’s Chief Content Officer, said: “Harry and Meghan are influential voices whose stories resonate with audiences everywhere.
“The response to their work speaks for itself – Harry and Meghan gave viewers an intimate look into their lives and quickly became one of our most-watched documentary series.

“More recently, fans have been inspired by With Love, Meghan, with products from the new As Ever line consistently selling out in record time.
“We’re excited to continue our partnership with Archewell Productions and to entertain our members together.”
The streaming company confirmed that the duchess will star in a Christmas special episode in December as part of the With Love, Meghan series.
Regarding the special episode, Netflix said: “This December, join Meghan in Montecito for a magical holiday celebration.
“Together, friends and family deck the halls, create holiday feasts, craft heartfelt gifts, and share lots of laughs – with simple how-tos to follow at home. It’s a holiday wonder with warmth, tradition, and a generous dose of joy.”
