Where does Jimmy Kimmel live? Though he was born and raised in Brooklyn, the comedian favors Los Angeles when it comes to investing in real estate. The talk show host owns properties in the Hollywood Hills, where he maintains a compound comprised of two adjacent homes, and in Hermosa Beach, where he owns an additional pair of properties. If the Jimmy Kimmel Live! host ever decides to add an Italian villa to his real estate portfolio, it won’t be too hard: He obtained Italian citizenship earlier this year, “thanks to [his] beloved grandmother Edith, whose family came from Candida, in the province of Avellino,” Kimmel explained while serving as the master of ceremonies at LA’s Italian Republic Day last summer. But for now, the reformed New Yorker resides in sunny California.

In 2002, the year before his eponymous talk show premiered, Kimmel paid $925,000 for a 1947-built Hollywood Hills dwelling, according to the Los Angeles Times. It was the same year that Kimmel and his first wife, Gina Maddy, were divorced, so it makes sense that the comedian would be ready to invest in a fresh start—one that came with a great view. The 3,600-square-foot Hollywood Regency–style home overlooked the Griffith Observatory and the Hollywood sign.

Amongst lush landscaping, a path to the entrance crossed over a water feature before leading up a red brick staircase to the front door. Five bedrooms (one of which was converted into a recording studio) and an equal number of baths were found inside the updated abode, along with formal dining and living rooms, a bar, a closet converted into an office niche, and a spa-like bathroom lined with sunny yellow tile. A stone island partially wrapped in stainless steel centered the modern chef’s kitchen, which also boasted a dessert fridge, an ice maker, a wine fridge, and a soda dispenser, in addition to a fleet of high-end stainless steel appliances. The home featured a neutral contemporary aesthetic, with lots of beige and cool grays found throughout, though it still had some period details intact, including oval leaded glass windows. It was also well-equipped for outdoor entertaining, with a swimming pool and spa, multiple decks, and an outdoor kitchen complete with a barbecue, a smoker, a pizza oven, and a beer keg dispenser.

After snatching up more properties in the area in 2008 and 2010, Kimmel was ready to say goodbye to this one. The talk show host rented it out for a few years, then offloaded it in the fall of 2014 for about $2.18 million.

Hermosa Beach homes

Two years after buying his Hollywood Regency home, Kimmel put down roots in LA’s Hermosa Beach, where he purchased a $2.175-million dwelling a block away from the water, per the New York Post. The four-bedroom, four-bathroom home spans about 2,200 square feet. According to the Daily Mail, the New York native invested another $2.25 million in the area when he bought a duplex 10 years later, in 2014. He later transferred that deed to his sister-in-law, the outlet reports, so it’s unclear if he ever personally resided there.

Kimmel added yet another Hermosa Beach property to his real estate portfolio in 2017, when he reportedly spent about $8 million on a four-bedroom, two-bathroom abode in the coastal city. According to realtor.com, the purchase included two neighboring parcels totaling half an acre. In 2023, Kimmel transformed the relatively modest home into a much more spacious, custom-built dwelling. While we don’t know much about its interior, aerial photos show that the home has been enlarged and is lined with lots of windows to take advantage of the ocean view. A swimming pool and a two-story guesthouse are also on the property. Kimmel still owns this house, along with his first home in Hermosa Beach.

Hollywood Hills compound

In 2008, Kimmel bought a new build in the Hollywood Hills near the famed Chateau Marmont for $6 million, according to the New York Post. The home has five bedrooms and five bathrooms across 4,800 square feet, plus a backyard pool. Two years later, the comedian snapped up an adjacent property for $1.1 million and combined the two plots into one expansive estate. At the time of purchase, the second dwelling spanned roughly 2,000 square feet, with three bedrooms and three bathrooms. Built in 1949, it featured post-and-beam ceilings, walls of glass, and a living room lined with built-in bookcases. Listing information from realtor.com hints that Kimmel rebuilt the abode in 2015 to make it a slightly more spacious two-bedroom, two-bathroom dwelling, clocking in at about 2,700 square feet.

He still maintains this compound.

Idaho lodge

Though it’s not his personal dwelling, there is another property that Kimmel maintains—and you can visit it. The Idaho lodge is a place where anglers looking to fly-fish in the area can stay in style. The late-night host bought South Fork Lodge in 2020 with his business partner, professional fisherman Oliver White. Though the final price was not disclosed, the 25-acre fishing lodge had been priced at $7.95 million. The investment makes sense for the comedian, who is an avid fly fisherman in his spare time. “Whenever I fish, I stop at the local fly shop, whether I need something or not,” Kimmel told Vanity Fair in 2012. “I always buy a hat with the shop’s logo on it.”

Located along the Snake River in Eastern Idaho, South Fork is an all-inclusive accommodation that hosts eight bedrooms with private patios, two cabins with five suites each, a separate four-bedroom river house, four fishermen’s cabins, a restaurant, a bar, and a shop replete with fly-fishing supplies. Kimmel and White renovated the place after purchasing it, imbuing it with some personal touches; according to The Wall Street Journal, it is decorated with “fishing art and books from Kimmel’s personal collection.”
