Fox News is replacing Pete Hegseth and giving former Trump White House spokeswoman Kayleigh McEnany her own show.

Fox News names Pete Hegseth replacement, promotes Kayleigh McEnany

The right-leaning cable network announced a new lineup Sept. 10 that begins next week on Saturday, Sept. 20. Griff Jenkins is slated to replace the current U.S. Defense Secretary as the third cohost on “Fox & Friends Weekend” (6 to 10 a.m. ET) Saturdays and Sundays while McEnany is set to host a new two-hour program “Saturday in America” (10 a.m. ET).

McEnany currently cohosts “Outnumbered” on the network and was hired there after serving as President Donald Trump’s press secretary during his first term from April 2020 to January 2021.

She is also the former boss of current White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt, who has adopted much of McEnany’s approach to dealing with traditional media outlets.

Senior White House correspondents Peter Doocy – son of “Fox & Friends” star Steve Doocy – and Jacqui Heinrich, the fiancée of Pennsylvania Rep. Brian Fitzpatrick, are slated to solo host a new show dubbed “The Sunday Briefing” (11 a.m. ET) which will feature the pair rotating on a weekly basis.

Fox News star and retired Marine Johnny Joey Jones and conservative commentator Tomi Lahren are two of the four new co-hosts of “The Big Weekend Show” as the nightly program becomes a three-hour show on Saturdays and Sundays (5 to 8 p.m. ET).

In November, Trump announced that he would nominate former Fox host Hegseth to lead the U.S Department of Defense. “With Pete at the helm, America’s enemies are on notice – Our Military will be Great Again, and America will Never Back Down,” Trump said in a statement at the time.

Despite questions surrounding his confirmation, Hegseth secured support in January from all but three Republicans to become Defense secretary with a 51-50 vote as Vice President JD Vance broke the tie.

Fox named the programming changes before the Sept. 10 shooting death of Charlie Kirk, a conservative activist and close political ally of Trump, at a campus event at Utah Valley University. The 31-year-old Kirk – a father of two and husband – recently guest cohosted “Fox & Friends Weekend” earlier this summer in July.
