Fernando Alonso is reportedly set to become a father for the first time. The two-time Formula 1 champion is in a relationship with Spanish journalist Melissa Jimenez.

The 44-year-old recently ended his third season with Aston Martin. Although he did not achieve a podium during the campaign, the F1 icon did finish sixth at the recent Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, ending the year 10th in the overall drivers’ standings. Alonso made his debut on an F1 grid way back in 2001, showcasing remarkable consistency across multiple decades as his racing career nears an end. However, he is set for a major life change away from the sport, following reports in the Spanish media that his partner is pregnant.

Hola has reported that Alonso and F1 reporter Jiménez are expecting a baby. There had been speculation in Spain following fewer public appearances from Alonso’s partner, including her absence from the recent Abu Dhabi GP.

The Spanish publication has since stated that DAZN reporter Jimenez is due to give birth in March 2026. It will be Alonso’s first child and Jimenez’s fourth. The 38-year-old has three children from her marriage to former Barcelona footballer Marc Bartra.

Alonso and Jimenez reportedly began dating in 2023 but have kept their relationship private. Hola adds that Jimenez is currently living with Alonso in Monaco, with her children also adapting to the location.

Meanwhile, Alonso has previously hinted that his F1 career could come to an end next season. The two-time champion has a contract until 2026 and may choose to walk away if Aston Martin enjoy a positive season.

In September, when asked by AS about his future, Alonso said: “It depends on how I feel next year, how I feel physically and mentally. But I don’t know. I don’t have a clear idea right now. If the car goes well, there’s a good chance it will be my last year.”

On whether he would want to retire at the end of a successful year, he added: “Yes. I know I have a better chance of doing well in 2027 or 2028, when there’s stability in the team we have now with Adrian Newey and the others.

“They might do well in the first year, but by the second or third, they’re guaranteed to do well. But I have to consider it myself. If the car goes badly, there’s a good chance I’ll stay for another year to finish on a positive note. If the car goes well, 2026 will probably be my last year.”
