New “American Idol” winner Jamal Roberts has announced he’ll be an opening act on a massive, nationwide R&B tour starting later this year.
Brandy and Monica will launch a 24-city tour that will span from mid-October to Early December. They’ll be joined by Kelly Rowland, Muni Long and Roberts.
The Boy is Mine Tour is titled after the R&B powerhouses’ 1998 megahit. The record topped the Billboard Hot 100 for 13 weeks, and Ariana Grande recorded a version that remixed the song with the duo last year.
Roberts also has new music on the way.
The Mississippi man won Season 23 on Sunday, May 18. He drew the most fan votes out of 26 million cast. According to PEOPLE magazine, host Ryan Seacrest said it was the “biggest finale vote in show history.”
Here’s what to know about Roberts, where you can see him perform in Mississippi before the tour and how to get tickets to the upcoming concerts with Brandy and Monica.

Roberts was a P.E. teacher at Crestwood Elementary School in Mississippi before appearing on the show.
The Meridian native is also a girl dad to three daughters: Harmoni, Lyrik and newborn Gianna.
He’s the first Black man to win since Ruben Studdard took the Season 2 title in 2003.
