Fresh from his appearance on I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here!, rapper Aitch swapped bushtucker trials for plenty of smiles, and surprised his local children’s hospice with lots of gifts in time for Christmas.
Aitch brought his signature energy – and carefully wrapped surprises – when he met with children and young people at Derian House Children’s Hospice, Chorley, on Wednesday.
The chart-topping rapper, known for hits like “Rain” and “Baby” and for his collaboration with Ed Sheeran on the deeply personal track “My G” dedicated to his sister, who has Down’s Syndrome, made sure no one was left out.
Handing out gifts on behalf of Porsche Bolton, Aitch took the time to chat with every child, young person, family, and staff member at the hospice – earning himself the nickname “Father Aitch-mas” for the day.
The I’m a Celebrity star signed autographs and posed for photos as he encountered plenty of starstruck fans.Leo, 25, who uses Derian House, shook Aitch’s hand and learned the star’s real first name. He said: “Aitch is brilliant. Did you know his real name is Harrison?”
Aitch said: “Leo knows my real name, so we’re on a different level.”

Leo also told Aitch that he likes music, to which Aitch replied: “We’ll have to get you in the studio then.”
Junior, 17, had a huge smile on his face when Aitch posed for photos with him. He said: “That was brilliant. I’m a big fan.” Leila, 15, was gobsmacked as the star walked through the doors with bags of gifts. She said: “Wow, it’s Aitch! I can’t believe it.” Brothers Charlie, 14, and Harry, 11, were grinning from ear to ear as they posed with Aitch, and Harry even had his Manchester United shirt signed by the rapper.

And not one person was left forgotten, as the rapper left a special gift for the family of Luke McCaughery, a valued member of the Derian Dynamos sports team, who passed away aged 16 earlier this year. Aitch signed a custom Derian Dynamos T-shirt for Luke’s parents, Lauren and Lee, which read: ‘RIP Luke, legend. Love Aitch.’
Caroline Taylor, Deputy Chief Executive at Derian House, said: “As Aitch walked through the hospice doors, there were wide eyes and smiles everywhere, and it was so heartwarming. We are so grateful that he made everyone feel so special, making time to speak to each and every child and young person, and their families. It means the absolute world, and has made everyone’s Christmas.
“At Derian House, we pride ourselves on helping families make the most of every moment. And I’m sure this moment will leave memories that will last a lifetime.”
Derian House was Aitch’s last gift-giving stop, after having visited Bolton Hospital and Bolton Lads and Girls Club earlier in the day.

Derian House, based in Chorley, Lancashire, cares for more than 400 babies, children, young people and their families from across the North West, helping them to make the most of every moment.
Care is free to families at Derian House, but it will cost £6million to run the hospice this year. The charity only receives around 30 per cent of government funding, meaning it relies on kind-hearted supporters to raise 70p in every £1.
