Prince Harry and Meghan Markle turned heads earlier this month when they stepped out at Kris Jenner’s 70th birthday party. The James Bond-themed celebration, held at Jeff Bezos’s Beverly Hills mansion, had many famous guests in attendance, including the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

While the pair seemed to enjoy the party, turning up hand-in-hand, their presence did raise some eyebrows. The pair, as ex-working royals, weren’t necessarily expected to be at such an A-list event, especially on Remembrance Weekend, when the Royal Family were attending poignant events back in the UK.

However, while it is believed Meghan is friends with the Kardashian/Jenner family, one royal expert believes she had another motive for attending the event.

That motive, according to Tom Sykes, was to prove that she is still relevant in Hollywood.

In his Daily Beast Sunday newsletter, Mr Sykes wrote: “For the Sussexes, the symbolism of being at the party was obvious and practical.

“Here they were at the epicenter of American celebrity power—Kardashians, Bezos, Zuckerberg, Gates, Oprah, Snoop.

“For Meghan, now professionally entangled with Amazon via her cameo in a new film for the streamer, it was a clean, shiny rebuttal to the claim that Hollywood is “over” them.”

As well as their presence at the party raising eyebrows, a photo row that happened afterwards also made the headlines.

Meghan, 44, and Harry, 41, originally appeared in party photographs shared by Kris Jenner and Kim Kardashian on Instagram.

However, this didn’t last long, with the photographs featuring the pair soon deleted.

It is yet to be confirmed what the reason behind this was.
