Sunday Night Football is now in its 20th season, having begun airing on NBC in August 2006.

It has since won the title of primetime television’s No. 1 program for an unprecedented 14 consecutive years.

Underwood has now been belting out the theme song for 13 back-to-back seasons.

This year, however, sees a revamp to the opening credits, and fans already love it.

One commented, “I’ve said it many times before, and this season is no different.

“NBC’s Sunday Night Football theme song with Carrie Underwood is the best theme in football.

Another remarked, “Mariah Carey may be the queen of the Christmas season, but Carrie Underwood is the queen of Football Season!

“Now, let’s give her the halftime show!”

A third posted, “Ok, this might be my favorite version of Carrie Underwood doing the SNF theme song!

“So good – loved the strings and the production and the vocal change-ups this season!”

Why Josh Allen vs Lamar Jackson is the new Brady vs Manning
Tripp Dixon, creative director for the SNF opener, discussed why they wanted to change it up this year.

He said, “For the 20th season of SNF, we wanted to set the tone for the night by reimagining the anthem sound in a way that plays to Carrie’s powerhouse vocals.

“[But also] while visually creating a seamless blend of stylized shots and behind-the-scenes moments evoking the national roadshow that is Sunday Night Football, week after week in the fall.”

The former American Idol winner praised Dixon and SNF’s new idea, saying they always want to elevate the show.

The star stated, “We had a blast shooting the new opening at The Resorts World Theatre again.

“As always, Tripp and the creative team continue to raise the bar.

“They bring the high energy and stunning visuals that the Sunday Night Football audience has come to expect year after year.”

The new opener wasn’t the only thing that excited fans in Week 1 of Sunday Night Football, though.

Josh Allen put on a brilliant MVP performance to help drag the Bills over the line in Orchard Park.

Buffalo overcame a 15-point deficit in the final quarter to claim a remarkable 41-40 victory over the Ravens.
