CAROL KIRKWOOD, a regular weather presenter on BBC Breakfast, has commented on an incident involving her colleague, Sally Nugent, after the star shared a Twitter post detailing her “horrendous” encounter with a bird.

Carol Kirkwood’s BBC Breakfast co-star, Sally Nugent, revealed she had had a “domestic drama” at the weekend on Twitter. The 56-year-old sports reporter told her 91,100 followers a pigeon entered her home after passing through her chimney. She said the experience was both “horrendous” and “hilarious” as she shared the story online. Sally wrote: “Had a domestic drama at the weekend. A GIANT pigeon flew down the chimney and got trapped in the house.”

Sharing a video of an Irish family trying to capture a bat in their kitchen, she added: “Dan Walker asked if it was like this.”

Responding to the post, Carol quipped: “Now I have ‘stop the pigeon’ stuck in my head Sal!” to which Sally replied: “It was horrendous/hilarious. Had to get my next door neighbour in.”

Carol and Sally are close friends and have shared vacations together, with the latter previously revealing they go on holiday together each year.

Speaking in an interview with Essential Surrey and SW London back in 2016, Carol revealed: “The relationships you see between the presenters are all genuine. It is a wonderful team.

“I go on holiday with Sally and Steph McGovern each year. Now Dan Walker has joined us – he is such a honey!”
The former Strictly Come Dancing contestant went on to gush about her relationship with her colleagues, insisting they understand one another.

She declared: “We are a close-knit bunch on Breakfast. We all know what it’s like to get up in the middle of the night.

“It’s not easy. I go to bed between seven and eight in the evening. I haven’t got a life.”

However, in the same interview the TV star raved about being a presenter on BBC Breakfast, a job she has had for 20 years.

“I love my job,” she exclaimed. “I love the weather and the fact that no two days are ever the same.”

But Carol never intended to be a weather girl and simply fell into the role after initially working as a secretary at the corporation.

“My interest in weather was accidental; it wasn’t something that I set out to pursue,” the award-winning presenter began.

“I just wanted to work for the BBC. So, when I was 12, I wrote to Blue Peter asking if I could come and be a presenter.”
