Meghan Markle was brutally mocked by fans after they pointed out how the Duchess likes to be addressed, even in semi-formal settings, during her latest interview. The Duchess of Sussex graces the cover of US magazine Harper’s Bazaar for December 2025/January 2026.
The magazine released an in-depth interview with Meghan, who is now promoting the festive edition of her Netflix series, With Love, Meghan, which will be released on December 3. In the interview, the magazine’s Kaitlyn Greenidge writes about how she met up with the Duchess to conduct the interview, saying: “We’re in a grand brownstone on the Upper East Side that belongs to one of Meghan’s friends. When I enter, the house manager announces, ‘Meghan, Duchess of Sussex,’ even though we appear to be the only other two people in the house.”

Royal fans quickly picked on the way Meghan was addressed and took to social media to express their views.
One user questioned on X: “WAIT — this is a direct quote from the interview?”
Another one replied: “I bet that happens everywhere, just like her use of HRH.”A third one opined: “M is deluded if she has her doorman calling out her title. Her royal title is worth nothing to her now, and she won’t have it much longer, so why be all desperate over using it?”
A fourth one asked: “Didn’t she say in the Oprah interview that titles meant nothing to her?”
A fifth one said: “She really wants people to use that title to associate it with her and thinks the BRF wouldn’t be able to take it from her then. She doesn’t get that it doesn’t belong to her and they can take it if they want, doesn’t matter if she styles herself with it or not.”
A sixth one commented: “Not surprised at her pretentiousness…but I am surprised it’s taken others this long to notice.”
In the interview, the duchess revealed that she appreciates spending more time with her children because she can work from home.
She also spoke about her relationship with Harry, whom she has been with for nine years, saying “he loves me so boldly, fully, and he also has a different perspective because he sees media that I wouldn’t”.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex still retain their royal titles despite leaving the Firm in 2020, but no longer use them commercially after a mutual agreement with the royals.
