While praying in her orchard, Carrie Underwood encountered a snake that inspired a powerful reflection on the evil ‘the world is full of.’

US singer Carrie Underwood attends the Songwriters Hall of Fame 2024 induction and awards gala at the New York Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City on June 13, 2024.

Carrie Underwood had a religious experience when she was picking blueberries in her orchard. In a recent Instagram post, the singer explained that just as she began praying in her garden, a snake appeared.

“I went down to the orchard to feed Sugar and the sheep and thought I’d check to see if the pink lemonade blueberries were almost ready,” she began her lengthy caption. “Turns out, some were ready to be picked! What joy! I was on the next-to-last bush when I thought I’d pray. I love praying out loud in the orchard…it’s so beautiful and peaceful…I was about 15 seconds into my chat when I was surprised by a snake in the blueberry bush. Just a rat snake…nothing dangerous. But he was there…JUST as I began to pray.”

The snake stood out as a strong symbol to Carrie.

“It obviously made me think…about God…about the devil,” she continued. “The devil is always there…watching…lurking…even when we feel at our closest with God. Being a Christian isn’t a free ticket out of trouble. The world is full of evil…BUT God is with us.”

The singer concluded that she and the snake didn’t bother each other as they went about their business. She said she has faith “that Mr. Snakey and the devil will both be moving along…out of my orchard and out of my way!”

Carrie Underwood received quite a few inquiries about pink lemonade blueberries, as well as lots of thanks from fans for sharing the story.

“Great analogy❤️,” wrote another Instagram-user.

Several people also noted that they would have sprinted right out of that orchard at the first sight of a snake.

“My picking days would be over. At. That. Moment,” wrote one person.

“Love this, what a beautiful tangible example,” commented one person. “Love that you are using your platform for good 🩷”
