A Bridgerton star is preparing to explore the manosphere in a forthcoming programme that Adolescence enthusiasts will appreciate.

Just as Louis Theroux’s Inside the Manosphere documentary is topping Netflix viewing figures, Deadline has revealed that Nicola Coughlan will feature in the upcoming series of Channel 4’s anthology programme I Am.

The programme is expected to showcase individual episodes examining relatable challenges modern women face.

Coughlan’s episode, titled I Am Helen, will examine the contentious online space known as the manosphere. It comprises prominent male content creators who assert they can guide young men towards prosperous lives.

Their perspectives have sparked criticism for championing traditional gender stereotypes, with personalities including Andrew Tate and HS TikkyTokky being linked to the divisive phenomenon, reports the Mirror.Joe Cole

Irish actress Coughlan will appear alongside Peaky Blinders star Joe Cole, who portrays her romantic partner.

Whilst specific storyline information remains confidential, it will allegedly focus on how harmful digital material can impact present-day partnerships.

Deadline has hinted that the primary tension within the narrative will centre on Cole’s character becoming deeply immersed in the manosphere and the damaging conduct that ensues. The Daily Express has contacted Channel 4 for comment.

Whilst Theroux’s documentary has garnered considerable acclaim, critics have raised concerns about its male-focused perspective on the discussion.

Women in relationships with men from the manosphere feature only fleetingly, yet some viewers have criticised the lack of attention given to how the movement affects women on a wider scale.

Netflix previously revealed the harsh truths of the online movement in the acclaimed drama Adolescence, which chronicled a young man influenced by a faction of the manosphere. However, the Emmy-winning programme similarly neglected to prioritise young women’s perspectives.

It appears Channel 4 will be addressing viewers’ reservations with this female-fronted series, which hasn’t yet been assigned a release date.
