Every now and then we all need something new to watch, and there’s a certain series Netflix fans can’t help but binge. If you’re looking for an addictive show, you may want to give it a go, as viewers claim they’ve watched it at least three times because it’s so gripping.

TV fans brought the Netflix series to people’s attention on Reddit when someone was asking for recommendations. When it comes to streaming options, there is often too much choice, so it’s always good when a series gets particularly good reviews as it encourages you to give something different a whirl.

It’s not the only offering to have captivated people lately either. Just weeks ago, Netflix viewers raved about another show that they couldn’t help but binge immediately.

A social media user asked: “What’s a Netflix show you’ve watched at least three times? Just quit my nursing job after three years, so I’ve finally got plenty of time to catch up on shows.

“Currently rewatching Peaky Blinders for the second time, it’s just so good. What else is on your must-watch list? Any recommendations for someone with way too much free time now?”

One person quickly responded, saying: “The Haunting of Hill House.” Another added: “Just restarted for the fourth time.”

A third replied: “I watched it once by myself, once with my husband, once again with my husband to try to find all the ‘hidden’ ghosts, and then several times after that just because it’s so good.”

Meanwhile, a fourth commented: “I’ve rewatched this show four or five times. I didn’t know there were hidden ghosts. Just looked them up and wasn’t aware this show could scare me any more than it already has.”

In a different thread, people also praised how good the series is. Someone else noted: “One of my favourite pieces of modern horror television.”

Another wrote: “One of the best things I’ve seen in the 2000s.” One more added: “It’s a masterpiece! As a horror ‘connoisseur’, this show had moments that gave me goosebumps!”

What is it about?

If you haven’t seen it, The Haunting of Hill House is an American supernatural horror drama series created and directed by Mike Flanagan. It was produced by Amblin Television and Paramount Television for Netflix, and is the first offering in The Haunting anthology series.

It’s loosely inspired by the 1959 novel of the same name by Shirley Jackson, and the plot alters between two timelines. The story basically follows five adult siblings who encounter paranormal experiences at Hill House.

These memories continue to haunt them until the present day and they experience flashbacks. This all builds up to the lead up of an eventful night in 1992 when they eventually leave the mansion.

The cast includes the likes of Michiel Huisman, Elizabeth Reaser, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Kate Siegel and Victoria Pedretti as the siblings in adulthood. Meanwhile, Carla Gugino and Henry Thomas star as parents Olivia and Hugh Crain.

Viewers think it’s so good, it’s even been deemed “one of the best Netflix shows in recent years, and probably the best Netflix horror show ever.” Many say it’s well worth a watch if you need something new to grab your attention.
