Lauren Alaina and her husband Cameron (Cam) Arnold are sharing the heartfelt story behind their newborn daughter’s unique name, Beni Doll Arnold. The country superstar took to social media on Tuesday (July 1) to explain the emotional meaning behind her daughter’s name in a just over two-minute video.

“Beni Doll Arnold, your name holds so much meaning and love. You are named after some of the most special people in our lives. I can’t wait to tell you this story one day ❤️,” the couple captioned the post on social media.

In the video, Alaina explained that she chose their daughter’s first name, while her husband Cam chose the middle name. She shared that she picked the name, Beni, to honor her late grandfather, Benny, and late father, J.J. Suddeth. “This is Beni Doll Arnold, our little girl. We want to tell you about her name. We each picked a name,” Alaina began. “I picked her first name, which is Beni, and she’s named for two people in our family, two people that have passed away.”

She detailed that her late grandfather, who helped raise her, was named Benny, and she wanted to honor him by naming her daughter after him. But since Benny felt a bit too masculine, Alaina and her husband brainstormed ways to make the name more feminine. Together, they decided to swap the “Y” for an “I,” creating Beni. When Alaina looked up that spelling, she discovered it meant “Crimson,” which is the color and name of the University of Alabama’s football team, a favorite of her late father’s. To her, it felt like a sign from her dad, his way of saying “Roll Tide” from Heaven, so they chose that spelling as a tribute to him.

“She’s named after my grandfather. It was my mom’s dad, Papa Benny. He helped raise me. He taught me how to play basketball. He bought me my first karaoke machine. If he was alive, he would tell you that he’s the reason I got where I am because he bought me that karaoke machine. He was very proud of that,” Alaina explained in the social media clip. “And I actually saw a girl years ago who was named Beni, and I just kind of jotted it down. And it wasn’t even our number one name at first, but we were tossing out different names and Beni came up, and we were trying to figure out how to spell it because traditionally it’s a boy’s name, but we knew we wanted to name her that.”

Alaina continued, “Cameron said, well, can we do it with an I or something to make it girlier for her? And I told him about the girl that I had seen who spelled it B-E-N-I. And he told me he loved that. And I’ll never forget it, we were at dinner and I looked up the spelling, B-E-N-I. And in Japanese, B-E-N-I means crimson. And my dad passed away last year, and it’s been really hard for me this whole journey, not having him and having her. And my dad was a huge Alabama fan, so the fact that B-E-N-I in Japanese means crimson, I feel like my dad said roll tide from heaven and told us how to spell it.”

Cameron then shared how they came up with their daughter’s middle name, Doll, detailing, “Her middle name is Doll and that’s for my aunt Lucy Willard. Her name was Lucy Doll Arnold, and she was born on our family farm where my parents live now. It’s like 175-year-old home. Been in the family for over 200 years, and she’s just been a big part of our family, and she’s never had kids, so it was just a little nod to keep her name in the family and pass it along.”

The video concluded with Lauren Alaina and Cam Arnold cradling their baby girl and looking at her with big smiles on their faces.

“[It’s a] pretty cute name,” Cameron Arnold said, to which Alaina added, “we love it, she’s one of a kind.”

Beni Doll Arnold made her arrival on June 11 at 8:44 AM, thirteen days past her original due date of May 29, weighing 7 lbs, 13 oz and measuring 19 inches long, according to the “Heaven Sent” singer’s social media post. Lauren Alaina took to social media two days later to announce the exciting news with fans via a social media post and new song.

“The right words are hard to find to describe how parts of my heart that I didn’t even know existed were unlocked at 8:44 am when they laid you on my belly for the first time. I will never be the same,” the 30-year-old Grand Ole Opry member wrote. “You, to your dad and me, are absolute perfection. We are honored God chose us to be your parents. Thank you to everyone for all of the love, prayers and support for our precious daughter.”

To celebrate the arrival of her beautiful baby girl, Lauren Alaina also dropped a new song that served as a powerful tribute to her late father and daughter, titled “Heaven Sent.”

“I have a little surprise for everyone. To celebrate the most precious miracle on Earth, I have decided to release a song I wrote about my daughter. We learned she was coming in a time of deep sadness after the loss of my daddy. I wasn’t sure when I would share Heaven Sent but watching my own husband become a father the last couple of days has made me want to share it with you now.  She came just before Father’s Day. My first without my own father. A day that will forever be hard to me, but I now have a new and perfect reason to celebrate it. Beni’s daddy. My sweet and steady husband. Beni truly is a gift from God that my old man sitting up there in ‘Heaven Sent.’ It’s out now everywhere.”

“Heaven Sent” is an extremely personal and timely song that dives into the idea of receiving a gift from the heavens above after suffering through a period of misfortune. Alaina wrote “Heaven Sent” alongside award-winning singer/songwriter and labelmate, Michael Hardy (HARDY), who she previously collaborated with on the chart-topping hit, “One Beer,” and Ben Johnson.

Alaina’s “Heaven Sent” follows her previous release of  “All My Exes (feat. Chase Matthew),” “Household” and “Those Kind Of Women.”
