Sarah Ferguson could one day follow in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s storied footsteps and release a documentary of her own on Netflix. Speaking in an extensive interview with the Telegraph back in 2023, the former Duchess was quizzed on whether she had watched Harry and Meghan’s then-recently released self-titled biopic and issued her verdict.
Asked about her plans for the years to come, she said: “I think I’m a devourer of information on Netflix. And I love watching everything on Netflix. I also think that one day I’d like to do a documentary.”
Pressed on whether she would like to follow her nephew’s example and opt for a similar explosive or tell-all style of programme, Sarah replied: “I don’t know. I can’t be led.”
Before the scandal surrounding her and Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s ill-advised association with convicted paedophile, Jeffrey Epstein, all came to a head in 2025, Sarah was successfully balancing her career as a best-selling romantic novelist with private charity work.
With her books, such as Her Heart for a Compass and A Woman of Intrigue, topping book charts, it was reported before this latest scandal that the streaming giant was considering adapting her work to the screen, following the success of other similar period dramas, including Bridgerton.
It was claimed that storyboards had been drawn up, but the project was subsequently considered “toxic”. A source told the Mirror: “For Sarah to be linked to this scandal at this time for the US is just toxic news for the project. It will never see the light of day.”

While Sarah’s own work may not be adapted from the page to the screen anytime soon, a story with links to her will soon be released on ITV.
The Lady is a four-part drama that follows the story of Sarah Ferguson’s former dresser, Jane Andrews, who was convicted of murdering her lover in 2001. Game of Thrones star Natalie Dormer takes on the role of the former Duchess in the upcoming drama; meanwhile, BAFTA winner Mia McKenna-Bruce plays Jane.
Elsewhere in the cast, Outlander’s Ed Speleers will play her victim, Thomas Cressman, with other notable names set to star, including Philip Glenister, Claire Skinner from Outnumbered, and Laura Aikman, best known for Gavin and Stacey. The Lady charts Jane Andrews’ rags-to-riches story, which fell apart when she was convicted of murder.
While the release date is yet to be confirmed, it is likely that the show will air in early 2026.
