I’m A Celebrity viewers have criticised Eddie Kadi after his remark to Lisa Riley appeared to upset the Emmerdale actress.

I’m A Celebrity fans rallied behind  Lisa Riley following what they perceived as a ‘shady’ remark from a fellow campmate. The Emmerdale actress, 49, garnered public sympathy after viewers criticised her co-star’s cutting comment.

Audiences called out what appeared to be a snarky observation by comedian Eddie Kadi, 42, branding his intervention as ‘nasty’ after Lisa was named deputy camp leader. The Mandy Dingle actress received the role alongside Ruby Wax, 72, who assumed overall camp leadership.

Former camp leaders Angry Ginge, 24, and Aitch, 25, united with Jack Osbourne, 40, in opposing the new leadership structure. Ginge voiced his discontent, claiming they were “taking the mic out of me last night when I was moving out”.

He declared: “The welcome dances have got to go.” This followed Ruby and Lisa’s request for him to dance whilst Aitch rapped upon learning of their appointments, reports The Mirror.

Lisa dismissed his demand, stating: “No the welcome dances have got to stay.” Ginge pushed back, threatening: “Well I will refuse to wash up.”

Lisa maintained her stance: “Well the welcome dances will stay, that’s the only thing I put forward as deputy …” However, Eddie then interjected, saying: “Hold on hold on things have changed though, the regime has changed. You are lucky to be in that position.”

His final remark seemed to wound Lisa and prompted criticism from viewers. Lisa immediately responded: “What?” before standing with her hands positioned on her hips throughout the remainder of the exchange.

Spotting the incident during the programme, viewers flocked to Twitter/X to condemn the comedian. One person posted: “Did I mishear or did Eddie say to Lisa she shouldn’t be deputy anyway or words to that effect? She looked very hurt by what he said.”

Another replied: “Yes I thought it was quite nasty what he said to her.”

Any potential friction between them will need to be put on hold, though. Eddie was announced as the second celebrity to be eliminated from the competition. He departed camp after Alex Scott, following the public vote.

During his departure interview with Geordie presenters Ant and Dec, Eddie acknowledged it was “time” as he crossed the bridge and bid farewell to his campmates. Speaking with Ant and Dec in the studio, Eddie shared: “I’m happy and sad at the same time, I’m had I’m sappy, honestly what a great time. I’ve had such an incredible time.

“I have made amazing friends, faced some fears and to be fair, it feels very surreal to be on such an iconic show, but most of the time you forgot you were on a show.”
