Viewers of Good Morning Britain were treated to an embarrassing technical gaffe involving Technology Secretary Liz Kendall during Wednesday’s morning’s programme.
Liz appeared alongside ITV’s Richard Madeley and Susanna Reid, who paid tribute to an icon earlier in the show, through a video connection this morning.
However, her unfortunate choice of a green blouse forced the presenting pair to announce they’d been compelled to implement a major “low tech” solution for the backdrop.
Under normal circumstances, they would utilise a digital green screen featuring an image of the Houses of Parliament, which proved impossible given Liz’s emerald-coloured shirt.
“That image would have been projected on to you!” Susanna exclaimed, as Liz couldn’t hold in her laughter.

Continuing, Susanna said: “We’ve had to replace the digital screen with a piece of material in which someone has printed a photograph of the Houses of Parliament.
“Can I just say, a slightly embarrassing moment for our first interview with you as Technology Secretary,” as Richard burst into a laughter.
“Did no one tell you about the perils of the green screen?” Susanna jokingly questioned.

Explaining the behind the scenes chaos, Liz explained: “He said to me, ‘Sometimes you have green screens, sometimes you have blue.’
“But I’ve done both, and I will never do it again. I’ve also got green shoes on but I will never do it again!”.
Joking about the unflattering fabric, Susanna said: “There are a few wrinkles in the fabric behind, that people may notice.

Liz Kendall spoke to the ITV stars about Donald Trump’s UK visit
“Also, quite a few wrinkles in this visit of the American President.
They then went on to speak about Donald Trump’s visit to the UK, reports the Mirror.
Wrapping up the interview, Richard playfully advised Liz to avoid wearing green in future, with Liz affirming that she would certainly be donning blue next time.
Following this month’s reshuffle, Liz Kendall has been appointed as the Secretary of State for Technology.
