Lewis Hamilton’s bulldog, Roscoe, has died aged 12 after complications from pneumonia. It seems as though this beautiful dog was so beloved that the whole world has sent support to its owner, including Roscoe’s 1.4 million Instagram followers.
Adopted by Hamilton in 2013, Roscoe enjoyed a full life, travelling the world and meeting those who loved him. Seen frequently beside the seven-time Formula 1 champion, these are our favourite moments of the late and great Roscoe the bulldog.
Portimao 2020: Celebrating Hamilton’s record 92nd win
Roscoe took part in the celebrations as Hamilton set the all-time wins record at the Portuguese Grand Prix. He appeared in a number of photos over the milestone weekend.
The dog with a paddock pass
Roscoe became so well known in the paddock that he was eventually granted a paddock pass by F1 supremo Bernie Ecclestone himself. “Bernie was kind enough to allow him to have one,” a proud Hamilton said at the time in 2013.
Ferrari debut at Silverstone
Following Hamilton’s legendary move to Ferrari ahead of the 2025 season, Roscoe returned to the British Grand Prix in July as his owner addressed the Silverstone crowds. The two walked out on stage together as fans applauded the pair.
His first meeting with Leo
Charles Leclerc’s sausage dog, Leo, has quickly gained his own following in the paddock as he often accompanies Leclerc and his partner Alexandra Saint Mleux on a race weekend. And in 2024, he met the paddock stalwart himself as the two four-legged friends were finally introduced to each other.
The model life
Outside of race weekends, Roscoe picked up plenty of paid modelling work, dating as far back as 2018. His day rates reportedly have reached up to $700. With Roscoe joining a modelling agency, he was sent auditions that would pay far more than normal – human – paid work.
A big-screen F1 movie cameo
Roscoe made a brief appearance in the F1 movie, the same movie that featured the likes of Brad Pitt and Damson Idris. Of course, a feature is worthy of being in the end credits. Eagle-eyed viewers will spot his name alongside the 20 drivers who were also seen on the silver screen.
Forever the paddock mascot
News of Roscoe’s death swept the paddock, with messages pouring in from drivers, teams, celebrities, and fans who each loved him almost as much as Hamilton. F1’s social channels named the dog “a true star in his own right,” and this couldn’t be more true.
