Brian Kilmeade poked fun at his Fox co-host Lawrence Jones this week, after he made somewhat of a faux pas live on air.
During Thursday’s episode of Fox & Friends, where they were joined by their other co-host Ainsley Earhardt, Brian and Lawrence were discussing President Donald Trump and one of his latest announcements, when Lawrence made a rather hilarious slip up.
The trio were commenting on Trump’s claim that Coca-Cola has agreed to change the Classic Coke formula from its high-fructose corn syrup to cane sugar – despite the company not confirming this. Lawrence expressed his joy at the news and said, “I’m happy about this. I love me some Mexican Coke!”
Brian and Ainsley laughed at his seemingly accidental double entendre, as ‘Mexican coke’ could also refer to drugs. This led to Lawrence apologizing twice on-air for his statement as Brian then joked, “I can’t save your career again!”

It comes after Trump took to his social media platform, Truth Social on Wednesday, July 16, and claimed that Coca-Cola has agreed to use real cane sugar in the United States.
He wrote on the site, “I have been speaking to Coca-Cola about using REAL Cane Sugar in Coke in the United States, and they have agreed to do so. I’d like to thank all of those in authority at Coca-Cola. This will be a very good move by them — You’ll see. It’s just better!”
Coca-Cola has not confirmed if Trump’s claim of them transitioning to cane sugar again in the states. The brand had replied to Trump’s post with, “All Coca-Cola brand products are wholesome beverages manufactured in compliance with the federal law.”

A company spokesperson said in a statement to NBC News, “We appreciate President Trump’s enthusiasm for our iconic Coca-Cola brand. More details on new innovative offerings within our Coca-Cola product range will be shared soon.”
The Coca-Cola in America utilizes high-fructose corn syrup, which is a contrast to other countries that use cane sugar, such as Mexico, Australia and several European countries. Mexican Coke is sold in the US and it’s made in distinctive glass bottles since 2005. It’s a notable alternative to the US high-fructose corn-syrup version.
An industry trade association based in Washington, DC, The Corn Refiners Association, had warned against the potential change.

“Replacing high fructose corn syrup with cane sugar doesn’t make sense,” John Bode, the group’s president and CEO said, per CNBC. “President Trump stands for American manufacturing jobs, American farmers, and reducing the trade deficit. Replacing high fructose corn syrup with cane sugar would cost thousands of American food manufacturing jobs, depress farm income, and boost imports of foreign sugar, all with no nutritional benefit.”
The Trump administration has called for food companies to alter their formulas to eliminate things such as artificial dyes. This is part of the administration’s Make America Healthy Again initiative. In March, Health and Human Services Secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr. told food executives that he wants “the worst ingredients” out of food.
