A former I’m A Celebrity star has revealed how a childhood incident has left him deaf in one ear – and how his mum originally didn’t believe him

An I’m A Celebrity runner-up has confirmed he is deaf in one ear following a childhood incident. Radio presenter Jordan North might have an ear for music, but the 35-year-old confessed his hearing issues in a recent podcast.

Speaking to Chris and Rosie Ramsey on their Sh***ed, Married, Annoyed podcast with his pal and fellow podcast host William Hanson, Jordan explained how his mum didn’t initially believe him when he revealed his issue.

William had told the hosts that he had to sit on a certain side for the chat due to Jordan’s deafness in one ear. The married couple were surprised with the revelation and asked what had happened.

Jordan revealed: “Basically, I’ve been deaf in my right ear since I was about 12 or 13.” He told the trio not to laugh as he continued: “I was putting my bike away in the shed.

“My mum said to me to go and put my bike away as it’ll get nicked. She went ‘go and put your bike away’. So I went downstairs and put my bike in the shed.

“My ear burst and I think I was so angry that basically I’ve burst a blood vessel.” The presenters were visibly horrified by the announcement and tried to get Jordan to clarify the situation.

“Typically from around here, for three weeks I was saying ‘mum, I can’t hear’ and she’s going ‘ don’t be daft’. She took me to the doctors.”

He then confessed he requires a hearing aid but never wears it as Chris described the story as “unbelievable”. Comedian Chris admitted he expected the story to be a lot more slapstick than it was, with Jordan saying it would have made more sense.

“I’ve told this story before,” Jordan went on. “And an ear specialist DM’ed me and said it’s probably not how it happened, but he disagreed and again doubled down on that’s exactly what occurred. “I was so fuming I burst a blood vessel.”

Earlier this week, Jordan revealed he was convinced comedian Josh Widdicombe hates him after an awkward encounter. He was hosting his Capital Breakfast show today alongside Chris Stark and Sian Welby when they welcomed Josh as a guest.

Jordan confessed that he has been convinced for years that Josh doesn’t like him after the pair worked together. Jordan explained that he was worried Josh didn’t like him – but said he didn’t want to be “needy”.

And the confession led to Chris and Sian plotting to convince Jordan that Josh secretly hated him. Speaking about the plan, Chris said: “When we knew Josh was coming on the show, he said to me, I just don’t think he likes me.”

Clips were then shown of Josh hugging everyone else much longer. There was even a moment that he sharply responded to Jordan’s comment about having to get close to the microphone to help with the audio quality.

Josh couldn’t keep up the act though and explained he had received a message along the lines of ‘can you be really horrible to Jordan?’, which caused Jordan to quip back: “When you walked in, I looked at Callum and went – see!”
