An inquest has been opened into the death of a 14-year-old who was fatally struck by a train at a Nottinghamshire rail crossing.
Joshua Travis died at the Chestnut Grove crossing in Burton Joyce on Wednesday, November 26.
The 14-year-old, who was a former Nottingham Forest academy goalkeeper, died at the scene and was formally identified by his fingerprints.
Coroner Nathanael Hartley told an inquest opening at Nottingham Council House that a post-mortem examination had been carried out following his death.

A provisional cause of death has been established as multiple injuries, assistant coroner Hartley said during the short hearing.
The hearing was adjourned for 28 days to allow for a separate review, by the Rail Accident Investigation Branch (RAIB), to take place.

Coroner Hartley concluded the hearing by offering his condolences to Joshua’s family and friends “at this very difficult time”.
The review by the RAIB, an independent body that investigates railway accidents, “will determine the sequence of events that led to the accident”.
The incident is not being treated as suspicious; however, some questions have been raised over the safety of the footpath.
Network Rail had asked Nottinghamshire County Council, which owns the land, to close the crossing months before Joshua’s death due to multiple incidents of near misses.
The findings – including any recommendations on how the footpath can be made safer for pedestrians – will be published at the end of the investigation.
In light of Joshua’s death and Network Rail’s past calls to close the crossing, the footpath will remain closed until May 26.
