The Duke of Sussex also expressed concern about veterans’ experiences after leaving military service
Prince Harry has delivered a stark assessment about the state of global stability, cautioning that peace appears increasingly precarious.
The Duke of Sussex shared these concerns ahead of Remembrance Sunday.
In an essay, entitled “The Bond, The Banter, The Bravery: What it means to be British By Prince Harry”, he reflects on his decade of military service and the enduring connection he maintains with Britain.
The former soldier, who completed two operational deployments to Afghanistan, crafted the message to communicate directly with the servicemen and women he served alongside throughout the United Kingdom.

Harry believes that whilst conflicts in the Falklands, Iraq and Afghanistan have concluded and many personnel have retired from service, neither he nor the British public should forget their contributions.
The duke paid particular homage to military personnel from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland, recounting his honour at fighting beside individuals from diverse communities across the nation.
He wrote: “I’ve had the privilege of serving alongside men and women from all four corners of the UK; from Antrim to Anglesey, Lancashire to London, Wrexham to the East Riding, Belfast to Bedfordshire and beyond”.
He added: “I saw courage and compassion in the harshest conditions imaginable”.

However, the prince expressed concern about veterans’ experiences after leaving military service.
Harry said: “But I also saw how easy it can be, once the uniform comes off, for those who gave everything, to feel forgotten.”
His essay emphasises the lasting bonds formed through shared military service across Britain’s diverse regions and communities.
The duke drew parallels between Ukrainian and British character following his September visit to the conflict-affected nation.

Despite residing in America, the prince made an unequivocal declaration about his national allegiance.

He observed that Ukrainians demonstrate a “resilience” and “fierce determination” that resonated with him deeply.
Harry wrote: “There is a similar stoic spirit of self-deprecation and humour in Ukrainians, that I recognise more than any other, in us Brits.”
Despite residing in America, the prince made an unequivocal declaration about his national allegiance.
He said: “Though currently, I may live in the United States, Britain is, and always will be, the country I proudly served and fought for.
“The banter of the mess, the clubhouse, the pub, the stands ridiculous as it sounds, these are the things that make us British. I make no apology for it. I love it.”
Harry’s military background includes a decade of service that he credits with shaping his worldview on duty and sacrifice.
This August, Harry arranged for a friend to quietly place a wreath and personal letter at the Burma Star Memorial in Staffordshire, honouring Prince Philip on the 80th anniversary of VJ Day.
