The Chase fans were left stunned on Monday’s episode of the ITV gameshow (November 3) after a royal question revealed Prince William’s surprising nickname. Host Bradley Walsh introduced contestants Jackson from Ipswich, Shannon from Falkirk, Anne from Bristol and James from Scunthorpe, who were battling quiz master Paul ‘The Sinnerman’ Sinha for thousands of pounds.
Jackson was up first when Bradley asked: “As he is ‘not the best of drinkers’, who does Mike Tindall call ‘One Pint Willy’?” The options were William Hague, Will.i.am and Prince William, and Jackson correctly went for the latter — prompting gasps from viewers who couldn’t believe the answer. Fans flocked to X, formerly Twitter, to share their reactions, with one writing: “Did someone say One Pint Willy?!” Another joked: “To think the King could one day be known as One Pint Willy. The mind boggles.” A third added: “One Pint Willy????!!!!…”
After the royal revelation, Jackson kept his composure and went on to secure £6,000 in his head-to-head, becoming the first player safely through to the Final Chase.
He was quickly joined by Shannon, who impressed viewers by holding her nerve and banking another £5,000, bringing the team total to £11,000.
But things took a downturn when Anne stepped up. After earning just £2,000 in her cash builder, she opted for the low offer of £200 in a bid to stay in the game — a move that didn’t pay off.
Chaser Paul made quick work of her questions and sent her home empty-handed, cutting the team back down to two.
ut it wasn’t just the offers that had viewers talking – a question blunder in Shannon’s round had fans howling on social media.
Bradley asked: “A bird in the hand is said to be worth how many in the bush?” Shannon confidently answered “three”, leaving the studio in stitches as the famous saying, of course, goes “two.”
Fans wasted no time reacting online. One joked: “Oh, so it’s now 3 in the bush, is it? I’ve been clearly saying that saying wrong all my life! Jesus H Christ!”
Another quipped: “That well known saying – A bird in the hand is worth 3 in the bush????”
The final contestant James then stepped up and held his own against The Sinnerman, earning £5,000 to take back to the table. His solid performance brought the team’s total up to a respectable £16,000 heading into the Final Chase.
n the Final Chase, the trio managed to answer 15 questions correctly, putting up a fair fight for their £16,000 prize pot.
But Paul was on blistering form, tearing through his own set of questions with ease. He matched their score of 15 with a huge 40 seconds still left on the clock, securing yet another decisive victory in what fans called a “masterclass” performance.
