Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have been criticised for their “dirty move” to use their children’s names on the latest As Ever merchandise. The candles are set to be part of the Mothers’ Day collection, with scents inspired by Prince Archie, six, and Princess Lilibet, four.

Podcaster Link Lauren called out the couple for their “cash grab move” as he slammed Meghan for “grifting and merching her children’s titles with new candles”. He also compared Meghan to the Kardashians to “use the next generation to make a quick buck”.

“How low can you go? I’ve been calling Meghan Markle the Duchess of Scamalot over the years, but this is ridiculous,” he said in his podcast, Spot On with Link Lauren.

The As Ever Mothers’ Day collection centres on two $64 (£47) candles that are tied to each child’s identity, birth dates, names and even subtle nods including Archie’s red hair. Plus higher price bundles with match boxes and chocolates collaborations.

One candle, named The Signature Candle No. 506, is a nod to Archie’s birth date, which falls on May 6. It offers “a warm, comforting scent, bringing a soft, familiar ease into the room.” Its notes include neroli, cashmere, and ginger.

The other candle, Signature Candle No. 604, is described as having a “light, floral scent inspired by Princess Lilibet of Sussex’s birthdate, adding a sense of brightness and openness to the home.” It has notes of amber, santal, and water lily.

The podcaster called for the couple to be stripped of the royal titles, adding that the children “are not old enough to consent to selling merchandise”. He said: “Meghan Markle, in her entire career, wants to be a food blogger, an influencer. And this is what influencers do. There’s nothing off-limits, there is no depth. It’s like she’s playing limbo, how low can you go Meghan?”

Link was also convinced that she “has been studying the Kardashians for years” and explained how Kris Jenner shifted her focus from Kim, Khloe and Kourtney to Kylie and Kendall.

He continued: “I’m concerned about Harry and Meghan’s finances, this behaviour to me is broke, desperate behaviour. And to keep up their lifestyle, the mansion, the travel, the security, especially now that Netflix has dropped them, the California taxes on top of that, I don’t think Harry and Meghan have that much dough. I think they are struggling. You don’t do these types of low-down dirty things using your kids’ titles to sell candles.”

Link told the viewers that he bought one of Meghan’s As Ever candles and was shocked to find out “there’s no wick” inside. He took a swipe at the former actress and said: “It’s like a metaphor to Meghan Markle’s career, there’s nothing on the inside.

“Nothing’s lighting, nothing’s igniting. She’s a hollow, empty vessel. I hope the [new] candles have wicks.”
