She was still texting her husband about dinner, me...

She was still texting her husband about dinner, medicine for the children and ordinary family life… just hours later, everything would change forever

THE casual text messages Lindsay Clancy wrote to her then-husband on the days she killed her three children have been revealed.

Lindsay, 36, faces three murder charges after she strangled her kids with exercise bands on the night of January 24, 2023.

Lindsay has pleaded not guilty to the charges but has admitted to the killings as her defense attorney argues she was not criminally responsible because she was suffering from undiagnosed postpartum psychosis.

The former labor and delivery nurse was seen by several mental health professionals and prescribed 13 different psychiatric medications in the months before the killings.

Five-year-old Cora, three-year-old Dawson and eight-month-old Callan were found in the basement of their Duxbury, Massachusetts, home by their father, Patrick Clancy, minutes after he found Lindsay in the backyard following a suicide attempt.

Since her trial began, more insight has been shared about the events that took place on January 24, 2023, including the mundane text messages exchanged between Lindsay and Patrick.

The two began texting at 8:17am when Patrick sent his then-wife a photo of Dawson, because “he dressed himself completely for the first time,” he said in his testimony.

Lindsay, who had taken Cora to her pediatrician for a scheduled checkup, responded a minute later with a photo of their daughter at the doctor’s office, wearing a mask and gown.

“Cutie,” Patrick replied, according to testimony from Massachusetts State Police trooper and cell forensics expert Timothy Chiappini on Thursday.

At 8:42am, Patrick asked Lindsay how the doctor appointment was going, and she replied “Good.”

“Okay. Her urine looked good, so nothing going wrong with her kidneys, phew,” Lindsay later responded.

“Good,” Patrick said with a smiley face emoji.

“You’re a good momma,” he said as Lindsay replied with a smiley face with hearts.

After Lindsay and Cora returned home from the doctor around 8:30am, she bundled up Cora and Dawson to play in the snow.

She later sent a photo of their two older kids with a snowman they built to Patrick.

Just before 5pm, Lindsay texted Patrick about dinner, asking if he wanted to get food from ThreeV, a local restaurant in Plymouth that the family had been to a few times.

“Any chance you want to do takeout from ThreeV … I didn’t cook … anything … It’s been a long day,” she sent at 4:53pm with a smiley face.

“Yeah,” Patrick replied.

“Okie dokie,” she said. “Check the menu when you can.”

Patrick then asked if Callan had just gotten up from a nap and what she was getting from ThreeV, to which Lindsay replied that their youngest was awake, “but it was just a short nap.”

“Oh, okay,” Patrick responded at 5:06pm, and one minute later Lindsay said she would be ordering the Mediterranean power bowl.

“Okay. I’ll do scallop and pork belly risotto,” he said.

Lindsay called in the order, and Patrick came upstairs from his home office in the basement to say goodbye before he went to pick up dinner.

Lindsay had asked him to pick up a stool softener for Cora per their pediatrician’s recommendation for her stomach troubles.

Patrick said in his testimony that he asked Lindsay to text him what to pick up, and state trooper Chiappini said in court she told him to grab Pedia-lax liquid stool softener.

Patrick later called Lindsay while at a CVS in Kingston to ask about the stool softener, and recalled Lindsay seemed “busy,” and figured she may have been giving the kids a bath.

When Patrick returned home from grabbing takeout and the medicine, he found an unusually quiet house.

He then found Lindsay on the ground in the backyard after she cut her wrists and neck and jumped from their bedroom window on the second floor.

Patrick called 911 and asked Lindsay where the kids were, to which she said, “in the basement.”

While first responders tended to Lindsay, Patrick ran into the house and found his children motionless in the basement with exercise bands around their necks.

Cora and Dawson were pronounced dead at the hospital, and Callan died three days later after being taken off life support.

In the years since, Lindsay and Patrick have filed lawsuits against her medical providers.

As her trial continues, her attorney will seek an insanity defense, arguing she was suffering from postpartum psychosis at the time she killed her kids.

The prosecution has argued that Lindsay “coldly and efficiently executed” and “was not a woman in the throes of psychosis.”

If Lindsay is found to not be criminally responsible, she will be committed to a state mental health facility.

She faces life in prison without parole if convicted.
